In connection with the upcoming World Environment Day 2025, the Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting to review and finalize the schedule of activities planned for the district.

The meeting was attended by DFO Territorial, DFO Social Forestry, Chief Education Officer, District Pollution Control Board Officer, Executive Officer Municipality Poonch and Tehsildar Headquarter.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of meaningful public participation and environmental awareness, particularly among students and youth. It was informed that various activities such as awareness campaigns, debates and painting competitions will be organized in schools to mark the occasion.

A key component of the celebrations will be a plantation drive, where 1,000 students will plant one tree each, as part of a district wide effort to enhance green cover and promote environmental responsibility.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the officers to involve NGOs and members of the civil society and to generate widespread awareness on issues related to waste generation and its environmental impact.

Departments were instructed to work in coordination to ensure smooth and impactful implementation of all planned events. The District Administration reiterated its commitment to environmental conservation and urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to making World Environment Day 2025 a successful and community driven initiative.
