Ludhiana Approves Industrial Incentives Worth ₹6.8 Cr Under Business Policies, Streamlines Clearances

A meeting of district-level committee was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Himanshu Jain to consider cases for in-principle approval under the Right to Business Act, 2020, for regulatory clearances and under IBDP 2017 & IBDP 2022 for providing benefits like CLU/EDC Exemption, SGST Reimbursement, for setting up their industrial units in Ludhiana and review of DBIIP Ludhiana.

While giving details, DC Himanshu Jain mentioned that one of the major achievements of the policy was the simplified approval procedure of incentives for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME’s). All the new and expansion/modernisation projects could apply on “Business First” portal and get all regulatory clearances and fiscal incentives online in a time-bound manner. 

DC also disclosed that under Right to Business Act, four cases were approved under In-Principle Approval, units can start the construction activity now and need to have regular approvals within 3.5 years of the date of issue of approvals.

Similarly, SGST reimbursement of 14 units has been approved amounting to Rs. 6.06 Cr under Industrial and Business Development Policy (IBDP),2017, CLU/ EDC exemption granted to 1 Unit amounting Rs.74,38,734/- under Industrial and Business Development Policy (IBDP),2022

The DC further informed that this policy will surely boost the morale of the Industry as more industries will come forward to get the benefits of the scheme. The policy has multiple benefits as beside huge fiscal benefits the monitoring of applications are done by the highest authorities of the departments for the various clearances to be given on time, he stated.

Also during the meeting, the review of DBIIP Ludhiana was taken and the departments i.e.  DRO, PPCB, MC Ldh, Labour, Factories were directed to clear out the pendency within the allocated timeframes so as to facilitate the ease of doing business vision of the Government of Punjab.

Past incidents like the #KargilWar, 26/11 attacks, and the #Kandahar hijacking underscore the risks of premature reporting. As per clause 6(1)(p) of the Cable Television Networks (Amendment) Rules, 2021, only periodic briefings by designated officials are permitted during anti-terror operations. 

All stakeholders are urged to exercise vigilance, sensitivity, and responsibility in coverage, upholding the highest standards in the service of the nation.
