Under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is continuing its aggressive campaign against drugs as part of the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” initiative. In a significant development today, two illegally constructed buildings by known drug smugglers in Gidderbaha, District Sri Muktsar Sahib, were demolished.
SSP Dr. Akhil Chaudhary shared details of the operation, stating that the buildings, located near Bharu Chowk, Gidderbaha, were illegally constructed by Jaswinder Singh alias Bhalla, son of Trilok Singh, and Baljit Kaur alias Baggo, wife of Teja Singh—both residents of the same locality. On obtaining necessary instructions for security arrangements from the competent authority, the buildings were razed to the ground.
He further informed that Jaswinder Singh alias Bhalla already has three FIRs registered against him related to drug trafficking and theft. Similarly, Baljit Kaur alias Baggo has two drug trafficking cases filed against her. SSP Dr. Akhil Chaudhary reiterated that under the state government's directives, extensive actions are being taken across the district as part of the mission against drugs.
He emphasized that any property acquired through drug money will be attached, and any illegal construction on government land will be demolished. He also appealed to the public to fearlessly report any information regarding drug peddlers to the police.
The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential, and strict action will be taken against the accused based on the information provided. Present during the operation were Manmeet Singh, SP (D); Avtar Singh, DSP Gidderbaha; Rashpal Singh, DSP; Amandeep Singh, DSP (H); Deepak Bhardwaj, Naib Tehsildar; and SI Deepika Rani, SHO Gidderbaha.
