A delegation led by Sanjay Tandon, National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Co-incharge of Himachal Pradesh BJP, met with the CEO of Chandigarh Housing Board, Ajay Chageti, to discuss various issues faced by the residents of the Housing Board. During the meeting, the delegation presented a detailed memorandum outlining the residents' concerns. Prominent members of the delegation included former Housing Board member Prem Kaushik, V.K. Nirmal, Raman Sharma, Dr. Anish Garg, and Kamal Ahluwalia.

Providing details about the meeting, Dr. Anish Garg stated that Sanjay Tandon elaborated on several key issues affecting Housing Board residents. He emphasized that residents who had applied for regularization of violations before the 2023 Supreme Court ruling should be considered under a positive and flexible approach, and relief should be granted accordingly. Tandon also raised concerns about the notices being issued by the Housing Board regarding violations during the conversion of leasehold properties to freehold.

He suggested that such notices should be stopped, as they are negatively impacting the Board’s revenue. By halting these notices, the Board could actually enhance its revenue. He further highlighted the condition of Housing Board properties that are over 50 years old, noting that these houses have nearly reached the end of their structural lifespan and require urgent attention.

Tandon urged that anonymous and unverified complaints regarding property violations should not be entertained by the Housing Board. Only complaints with verified identities and names of complainants should be acted upon. Another key issue raised was the growing problem of vehicle parking in the southern sectors of Chandigarh.

Tandon suggested that the Housing Board should collaborate with the Administration and the Municipal Corporation to explore options for community parking facilities at the earliest. He also informed CEO Ajay Chageti that he has already been in communication with relevant ministers and officials of the Central Government regarding these issues, and that he remains committed to pursuing effective resolutions.

In response, Housing Board CEO Ajay Chageti assured the delegation that their primary concerns would be discussed with the relevant authorities and that positive steps would be taken to address them.
