Punjab MLAs Dedicate ₹1.01 Cr School Upgrades Under Mann Govt's Sikhya Kranti Initiative

Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, and as part of the ongoing “Punjab Sikhya Kranti” campaign, development projects worth approximately Rs. 1.01 crore, carried out in various schools across the district, were dedicated to the public by the MLAs of the district’s three assembly constituencies Gurinder Singh Garry Birring, Lakhbir Singh Rai, and Rupinder Singh Happy.

The development projects include the overall renovation of Government Primary School, Malowal at a cost of Rs. 1.04 lakh; construction of a boundary wall and renovation at Government High School, Bugga Kalan at a cost of Rs. 8.773 lakh; construction of a sports track at Government Primary School, Raipur Chobdaran at a cost of Rs. 1.6 lakh; and construction of a boundary wall at Government Senior Secondary School, Tanda Badda Kalan at a cost of Rs. 4.9 lakh.

Other development projects include: Government Middle School, Sado Majra – Rs. 3.10 lakh, Government Primary School, Sado Majra – Rs. 1.40 lakh,Government Primary School, Dhoopsehri – Rs. 3.60 lakh, Government Primary School, Anaitpura – Rs. 4.00 lakh, Government Senior Secondary School, Randhawa – Rs. 5.91 lakh. In addition, a boundary wall has been constructed and other development projects have been completed at Government Primary School, Mahimudpur, at a cost of Rs. 8.55 lakh. 

At Government Senior Secondary School, Ghumandgarh, comprehensive renovation and boundary wall construction have been completed at a cost of Rs. 43.67 lakh. A boundary wall at Government Primary School, Husainpura has also been constructed and other development works at a cost of Rs. 14.84 lakh.

While addressing the media, MLAs Gurinder Singh Garry Birring, Lakhbir Singh Rai, and Rupinder Singh Happy stated that the Aam Aadmi Party government, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is fulfilling its promise of launching an education revolution in Punjab. Under this transformative initiative, long-pending basic infrastructure needs neglected for over 75 years are now being addressed, completely revitalizing the appearance and facilities of government schools across the state.

Since coming to power, the Aam Aadmi Party government has ensured that every government school in Punjab has a boundary wall. Furthermore, 20,000 new teachers have been recruited and 12,700 contractual teachers have been regularized. 

For the first time in the state’s history, government school teachers have been sent to prestigious national and international institutions for advanced training. They also highlighted the establishment of nearly 100 ‘Schools of Eminence’ equipped with ultra-modern facilities. 

A dedicated school bus service has been introduced, currently benefiting 10,000 students, with plans for further expansion. Campus managers, security guards, and watchmen have been appointed to ensure student safety and smooth functioning of school operations.

Large-scale grants have been provided to government schools, which have been effectively utilized to raise academic and infrastructural standards. As a result, Punjab’s government schools are now being recognized as national-level model institutions.

The MLAs also shared updates on progress in other sectors, including: A strong crackdown on drug trafficking, with illegally acquired properties being demolished, Rs. 97,000 crore worth of investments attracted to the state, creating employment for youth, Nearly 800 Aam Aadmi Clinics providing free medical care across Punjab, Restoration of thousands of kilometers of irrigation canals to conserve groundwater and boost agricultural infrastructure,

Formation of the "Sadak Surakhea Force", which reaches accident sites within 12 minutes, reducing road fatalities by 50 percent. MLAs emphasized that these achievements reflect the government’s unwavering commitment to education, healthcare, safety, and economic development. 

As a result of these initiatives, parents are now increasingly enrolling their children in government schools over private institutions, leading to a significant rise in student admissions across Punjab. On this occasion, the MLAs also honored meritorious students. In appreciation, school staff members honored the MLAs for their valuable contributions.

Dignitaries present included: SDM Bassi Pathana Harveer Kaur, District Education Officer (Secondary) Sushil Nath, District Education Officer (Elementary) Sanjeev Gautam, Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary) Didar Singh Mangat,  Deputy DEO (Elementary) Kamaljit Kaur, Shingara Singh Salana (President, AAP Transport Cell), Amrit Pal (Sarpanch, Bugga Kalan), Jagdeep Singh (Chairman, Mandi Gobindgarh Market Committee), Gurbakhsh Singh (Former Sarpanch, Tanda Badda), Ranjit Singh (Sarpanch, Tanda Badda Khurd), Yadvinder Singh (Sarpanch, Salana), Harjinder Singh (Sarpanch, Tibbi), Harjeet Singh Grewal, Bhupinder Singh Bhandohal, Darshan Singh Chobdaran, Balveer Singh Kapoorgarh, Tarsem Singh (Sarpanch, Kapoorgarh), B.L.O. Ravinder Kaur, B.P.E.O. Achharpal Sharma, Amandeep Singh, Amarinder Singh Mandophal, Chandandeep Singh (Sado Majra), Amarjit Singh, Pavittar Singh, Sarpanch Gurdeep Singh, Amrik Singh, Dr. Kulveer Singh, Sarpanch Bikramjit Singh, along with a large number of students, teachers, and parents.
