National Conference Minority Cell member and President Gurdwara Prabandak Committee Chanpora  Jaspal Singh along with his supporters on Monday joined Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).According to a statement issued to KNS, the new entrants were welcomed by Syed Altaf Bukhari, the PDP senior leader and party candidate for Amirakadal constituency at his office chambers in Shiekhbagh.

On this occasion, Syed Altaf Bukhari while welcoming  Jaspal to party fold observed that besides adding new colour to the party, his joining will instill a sense of confidence among the minority community in Amirakadal who have sofar been neglected to the hilt by the ruling National Conference.

Bukhari said that the Sikh Community has a vital role in building peace, prosperity and socio-economic development in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that both the communities have been living in harmony for centuries and have always maintained cordial relations, amity and brotherhood.“I on behalf of my party PDP welcome Ms Jaspal Singh and his supporters and assure utmost care, respect and dignity to this community,” Bukhari said while according a warm welcome to the new entrants.Addressing the function,  Jaspal Singh said that it was the political obscurity and sheer discrimination in National Conference that motivated him and his supporters to join PDP. “Not only that I was fed up with NC’s traditional political gimmicks but the PDP had impressed me and my supporters through it inclusive agenda that addresses socio-economic and political issues facing Jammu and Kashmir,”  Jaspal remarked.

Jaspal said that his area (Chanpora) deflates NC’s hollow slogans of development and economic prosperity. “Not only Chanpora but the entire Amirakadal is waiting for a holistic change. “Amirakadal constituency is the most neglected constituency of the State.  And I appeal the people of Jammu and Kashmir especially my community to teach National Conference a lesson in the upcoming elections,” Ms Jaspal added. He pledged to work and support the PDP to emerge as a single largest political party in the upcoming assembly elections. (KNS)
