Chief Commissioner Punjab State Transparency and Accountability Commission, Vijay Kumar Janjua, today directed the officials of various departments to ensure the proper implementation of the Punjab Transparency and Accountability Act, 2018, in letter and spirit. Chairing a meeting at the District Administrative Complex Jalandhar, Mr. Janjua stressed that the Act is designed to guarantee timely and hassle-free delivery of public services.
He highlighted that any delay beyond the prescribed timeline would attract a penalty up to Rs. 10,000 per case. The Act provides a clear timeline for various services, allowing citizens to appeal in case of undue delays.
He further elaborated on the Commission’s role in ensuring transparency and accountability in public service delivery. “The Punjab Government is committed to making citizen services efficient and transparent, and any laxity in implementation will not be tolerated,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal briefed the Chief Commissioner on Jalandhar Administration’s efforts to streamline service delivery. He assured that the district is committed to upholding the provisions of the Act. Dr. Aggarwal also noted that Jalandhar has secured the top position in Punjab for timely citizen service delivery, reflecting the administration's proactive approach.
Notably, the Act aimed at enhancing governance efficiency and ensure accountability in public services across the state. Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Mahajan, Assistant Commissioner (Under Training) Sunil Phogat, RTA Balbir Raj Singh, DRO Navdeep Singh Bhogal, officials of different departments were present in the meeting.
