Under the able leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr. Karamjeet Singh, Directorate of Placement & Career Enhancement organized “TCS Leadership Connect” program at Guru Nanak Dev University. Mr. Varun Kapur, Vice President & Head – Energy, Resource & Utilities UK & Europe, TCS conducted the interactive session.

Before starting the session, a significant meeting was held between Dr. Karamjeet Singh and Mr. Varun Kapur to discuss key areas of collaboration aimed at enhancing student opportunities like internships and skill development. Dr. Palwinder Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Registrar, Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean of Students Welfare, and Prof. Maninder Lal Singh, Director of Research, were also present during this productive discussion.

As many as 800 students of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering departments of main campus and Regional campuses participated in the program. Mr. Vikas Gupta – Regional Head – Talent Acquisition, North India, TCS and Mr. Rajit Sikka,  Regional Head – Academic Alliances, North India, TCS accompanied Mr. Varun Kapur.

The session, which took place at the university's Golden Jubilee Convention Centre, captivated the audience as Mr. Varun Kapur delved into crucial topics like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Data Analytics—fields that are reshaping the future of technology and business. During the session, Mr. Varun Kapur shared his wealth of knowledge on how AI and ML are driving innovation across various industries and emphasized the importance of embracing these cutting-edge technologies for career growth.

A strong advocate of continuous learning, Mr. Varun Kapur encouraged students to stay curious and proactive in acquiring new skills. He urged them to keep pace with the rapid evolution of technology and to develop an adaptable mindset. "The world is constantly changing," said Mr. Varun Kapur. "To stay relevant, you must never stop learning. Technology evolves, and so should you."

In addition to discussing technical advancements, Mr. Varun Kapur stressed the significance of integrity, human values, and ethical considerations in the tech industry. Mr. Varun Kapur also encouraged students to think beyond their academic curriculum and become lifelong learners who can contribute meaningfully to the world of technology while upholding ethical standards.

The interactive session concluded with a Q&A session where students actively participated and asked insightful questions on various tech-related topics. The event left a lasting impact, inspiring students to explore the world of technology with a sense of responsibility, innovation, and respect for human values. 

The event was warmly welcomed by Dr. Amit Chopra, Director, Directorate of Placement & Career Enhancement, who extended a heartfelt welcome to the esteemed guests and all attendees. Dr. Chopra highlighted the importance of hosting such distinguished experts who not only provide students with cutting-edge knowledge but also inspire them to explore new avenues in their careers. Dr. Kuldeep Singh Brar, Placement-in-Charge, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering introduced the delegation of TCS. Er. Gurpreet Singh, Placement-in-Charge, Computer Engg. & Technology Department presented the vote of thanks.
