Dhruve Pandove Cricket Trust organised annual blood donation camp on Thursday, in the memory of Late Ace Cricketer Dhruve Pandove. Baldev Singh Sran, CMD/PSPCL, was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Sran said blood donation is one of the most selfless acts a person can do, as it has the power to save lives.

A single unit of blood can make a difference for multiple patients, whether they are accident victims, those undergoing surgeries, or individuals battling severe illnesses. He said, “Your willingness to donate today reflects your compassion and commitment to society.”

He commended the efforts of the organisers, volunteers, and medical professionals who have worked tirelessly to make this event possible, ensuring a safe and smooth donation process. Sran urged everyone to continue supporting such life-saving causes beyond today. Blood cannot be manufactured; it can only be given by generous donors like you.

By making regular donations, you are not only helping those in need but also improving your own health. He said, “Let us spread awareness and encourage more people to join this mission of saving lives.” Remembering the late cricketer, Sran said Dhruve Pandove was the outstanding Cricketer who played in the Ranji Trophy Tournament from Punjab at the age of fourteen years.

He held the distinction of being the youngest ever to score a century and 1000 First Class Runs. He was the contemporary of the Cricket Stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguli, Anil Kumble, J Shri Nath, Vinod Kambli, Ajay Jadeja, Rahul Dravid all these players played together in the India youth team which won the Asia cup.

Adding, he said Dhruve Pandove always remained the top Run getter. Dhruve was left handed opening bats man and a useful right hand leg spin bowler. He also played in the Deodhar and Duleep Trophy Inter Zonal Tournaments at the same young age in the Ranji Trophy.

He was likely to play for India but unfortunately road accident snatched this Star Cricketer from all of us.Many sports persons and people from all walks of life donated blood in this camp. People from all walks of life including large number of sports persons attended the function.

It may be mentioned here that Dhruve Pandove Cricket Trust was formed to commemorate the memory of young budding cricketer, who had great promise but his life was cut short in a tragic road accident at Ambala on January 30, 1992.
