Vineet Dhir, the newly elected AAP Mayor of Jalandhar, addressed the media today in a press conference held at the Municipal Corporation headquarters. Accompanied by Senior Deputy Mayor Balbir Singh Bittu, Deputy Mayor Malkeet Singh, and municipal councillors, Dhir expressed gratitude to his team, the residents of Jalandhar, and the leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the city.

At the outset, Mayor Dhir thanked the party's national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab AAP President Aman Arora, and other senior leaders including Dr Sandeep Pathak for their guidance and unwavering support. Highlighting his administration’s priority, Dhir said, “We are committed to a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

Every penny allocated for Jalandhar’s development will be spent transparently and effectively for the betterment of the city.” He assured the public that strict measures would be taken to eliminate corruption from all levels of governance. Mayor Vineet Dhir outlined his vision for transforming Jalandhar into a developed and sustainable city.

Key focus areas include improved civic amenities: Resolving issues like sewage overflow, water shortages, and poor street lighting, Infrastructure Development: Repairing broken roads and ensuring timely maintenance of existing infrastructure, Enhanced Revenue Generation: Streamlining revenue collection processes within the Municipal Corporation to strengthen the city’s financial resources, Smart City Implementation: Accelerating ongoing Smart City projects with a clear timeline and ensuring proper utilization of allocated funds.

“Our goal is to work day and night to ensure that Jalandhar becomes a benchmark for urban development,” Dhir stated, adding that all departments have been instructed to prioritize efficiency and accountability. The mayor called upon the residents of Jalandhar to actively participate in the city’s progress.

“The development of Jalandhar is not just the responsibility of the Mayor, Deputy Mayors, or councilors. It is a collective duty that requires the cooperation of every citizen,” he said. Dhir said that residents must also take ownership of keeping the city clean and beautiful.

Dhir informed that meetings with all municipal departments have been scheduled to address ground-level challenges. He said that immediate actions will be taken to resolve pressing issues, and parallel workstreams will ensure simultaneous progress across all priority areas.

Mayor Dhir reiterated his commitment to making Jalandhar a model city through collective efforts and transparent governance. “With the support of my team and the people of Jalandhar, we will leave no stone unturned in achieving our vision for the city,” he concluded.
