MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla has appealed to the people to organise condolence meetings for the late Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at various places and inspire their children to become like Dr Manmohan Singh. At the same time, MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla wrote a letter to President Draupadi Murmu and appealed to establish a memorial for Dr Manmohan Singh.

MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, while organising a press conference today, said that the entire country is proud of the contribution made by Dr Manmohan Singh to the nation as a visionary economist. After his death, he should be preserved in the same way as other former Prime Ministers have been remembered by creating memorials at Raj Ghat.

He said that Dr Manmohan Singh came to this country as a refugee and then left with a lot of love by becoming a Prime Minister. Today's children should be inspired by telling stories related to his life because he wants today's children to understand the importance of education and it is possible that someone may reach great heights like him.

He said that he has written a letter to the President to build a memorial for Dr Manmohan Singh, while he will also meet the Chief Minister in this matter and in some time he will ask for a place for him in Punjab and will establish a memorial here too or build something so that people can know about his life.

He told that in the letter written to the President, he said that memorials like Shanti Van for Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Vijay Ghat for Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri and Sadaiv Atal for Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee have been helpful in acknowledging his service to the nation. But it is worrying that despite his important role in India's economic development story, no similar tribute has been planned for Dr Manmohan.

He said his tenure as Prime Minister was marked by transformational economic reforms, social development programmes and efforts to elevate India's global standing. His legacy is far-reaching and deserves recognition through a dedicated memorial. He said other leaders like Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao have been honoured posthumously with memorials like Gyan Bhoomi in Hyderabad.

Ignoring Dr Singh's contribution sends an unfortunate message to the entire Sikh community. He said he humbly requests you that a suitable memorial of about 150 square yards should be established for the honest 13th Prime Minister of the country, Dr Manmohan Singh, at the Rajghat complex, which symbolises the rich tradition of honouring leaders who shaped India's destiny.

I therefore urge your esteemed office to take necessary steps to maintain this tradition by directing the establishment of a memorial for Dr Manmohan Singh at Rajghat. Such a move would reaffirm India's commitment to honour its leaders and preserve their legacy for future generations, and would also enable those who could not attend the funeral to come and pay their homage.
