The state is scheduled to go to polls October this year. However, the Election Commission could opt for early balloting as the festival season is spread over most of October. The main contest is between the ruling Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party-Haryana Janhit Congress (BJP-HJC) alliance and the INLD. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced it will not contest the election. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the BJP won seven seats while the INLD got two seats and the Congress managed to secure one seat.
