Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Director Administration Jasbir Singh Sur Singh has welcomed a notification issued regarding release of electricity connections to the applicants of unauthorised regularised colonies. In a statement here on Thursday, he added termed this decision of the state government as “pro-people”. 

He highly appreciated the “pro-people” policies of the state government under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. At the same time, he said Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO is implementing the government policies in a true manner in PSPCL for ensuring better services to people of Punjab.

Further, he said electricity connections shall be released for those plots which are registered in accordance with the provisions of the notification. He added that this landmark decision aimed at improving the quality of life for residents of unauthorised regularised colonies. 

He added the state government, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has issued a notification for the release of electricity connections to applicants in these areas. PSPCL Director Administration Jasbir Singh Sur Singh said this progressive step demonstrates the government's commitment to ensuring equitable access to basic amenities for all citizens, particularly those in marginalised localities.

The initiative addresses long-standing concerns of residents who have faced challenges due to limited access to reliable electricity services. He added the state government has always emphasised for inclusive development. He said, "In-fact, the state government wants that no household should be left in the dark”, adding that regularising power supply in unauthorised regularised colonies is a step towards empowering communities and enhancing their living standards.

He hoped that the decision would be widely lauded by all stakeholders. He said with this decision, the state government has set an example of governance for everyone.
