Istituto Marangoni Mumbai, renowned as one of the foremost institutions for interior design education and a leading provider of product design courses, made a remarkable debut at Design Mumbai 2024. The event, which took place from 6th through 9th November, 2024 at Jio Garden, BKC, Mumbai, marked the school’s first participation in this prestigious design exhibition.

Students from both the interior design and product design programmes showcased an impressive array of cutting-edge projects, highlighting their creativity and technical expertise. The exhibition not only served as a platform for the students to demonstrate their talent but also reinforced Istituto Marangoni’s position as a premier design institution in Mumbai, solidifying its reputation for fostering innovation and excellence in the design world.

The highlight of Istituto Marangoni’s presence at Design Mumbai 2024 was an innovative design project from its Milano School of Design. Created in collaboration with the Italian luxury furniture brand Poltrona Frau, the project leveraged Artificial Intelligence to bring its vision to life. As part of this initiative, Interior Design and Interior Contract Design students from Istituto Marangoni Milan envisioned homes of a mixed reality era, demonstrating how physical spaces will evolve to seamlessly integrate digital dimensions.

Additionally, the event featured a rich and diverse selection of student projects, each representing a fusion of modern aesthetics and cultural influences. These projects spanned various design disciplines, including spa concepts, lighting, furniture, and product designs, showcasing the breadth of creativity and innovation fostered at Istituto Marangoni Mumbai.

Each piece reflected the students' ability to merge contemporary design principles with unique cultural elements, offering a fresh perspective on traditional and modern design practices.

Among the standout student works were:

Anshika Mangla’s ‘Echo’ spa project and ‘Binnai’ lamp beautifully combined refined aesthetics with practical functionality.

Uchista Shah’s ‘Lucid’ spa project presented an innovative approach to wellness spaces, offering a modern perspective on relaxation and rejuvenation.

Jasmine Bawa’s ‘Revive’ spa project and ‘Echinus’ stool delved into the theme of rejuvenation through organic and natural design elements.

Devanshi Talreja’s ‘Aabha’ side table seamlessly blended traditional motifs with contemporary design principles, creating a unique fusion of old and new.

Commenting on Istituto Marangoni’s debut participation at Design Mumbai 2024 with student projects, Mr. Tarun Pandey, COO of Istituto Marangoni Mumbai, shared, “we are delighted to introduce Istituto Marangoni to the Design Mumbai platform, a dynamic space that celebrates innovation and creativity in design. It’s inspiring to see our second-year students present their work here, embodying the exceptional talent and promise that our campuses cultivate. These students still have another year of growth ahead, including time at our European campuses, but their work has already received enthusiastic recognition from both the media and industry professionals. This positive reception underscores our dedication to developing the future leaders of design, and we look forward to their continued achievements.”

As one of the leading design institutions in Mumbai, Istituto Marangoni Mumbai is deeply committed to fostering a unique blend of cultural awareness and global design perspectives. The institution takes pride in offering an education that emphasises creativity, innovation, and a keen understanding of diverse design influences from around the world.

The Design Mumbai showcase was a testament to Istituto Marangoni’s dedication to providing students with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to excel in the world of interior design. By participating in such a prestigious event, the school highlighted its commitment to preparing students for successful and impactful careers in interior design, both within Mumbai and on the global stage.

The exhibition underscored the school’s ability to nurture the next generation of design leaders, equipping them with the expertise to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and dynamic industry.
