To instil confidence among the stakeholders during the ongoing paddy procurement operation, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rupnagar Range, Nilambri Jagdale today visited the Kurali Mandi along with Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pareek. Interacting with the farmers, Commission Agents and Rice Millers, she assured them of smooth procurement and lifting operations and said that the Police would not allow anyone to hamper the procurement operations. 

She directed the DSPs Karan Singh Sandhu (Kharar-1) and G S Bains (Kharar-2) to keep close monitoring of the Mandis falling under their areas to maintain law and order. She said that as per the commitment of the Punjab Government, the paddy crop is being procured by the Procurement Agencies and the lifting is also being expedited.

Sub Divisional Magistrate, Kharar, Gurmandar Singh said that the release orders for lifting the paddy have been issued and the farmers and commission agents would not face any problem. DIG and SSP while interacting with media said that the visit was aimed at reviewing law and order arrangements in the Mandis and the District Police in coordination with District Administration and farmers, Commission Agents and Rice Millers will work towards seamless procurement operations.

It is worthwhile to mention that the SAS Nagar Mandis have reported a purchase of 107192 MT of paddy by previous day while a payment of Rs 235.38 Crore has been made against the purchase.
