To ensure free, fair and transparent voting in Panchayat Elections in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district on Tuesday, the Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain and Senior Superintendent of Police, Deepak Pareek took a round of Despatch Centres and hypersensitive booths today and passed on the instructions to the civil and police officers to keep the election process peaceful and smooth. Polling will start at 8:00 am and will continue till 4:00 pm.
Visiting the Despatch Centre at Govt School 3B1, Mohali, Hypersensitive Booth Landra and Despatch Centre Govt College Derabassi, the Deputy Commissioner and SSP issued the instructions to the officers to maintain law and order besides keeping the polling process undisputed. District’s 266 Gram Panchayats would have elections tomorrow, said DC Jain while 63 villages have unopposed panchayats.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that the SAS Nagar district is going for Gram Panchayat Elections tomorrow and all the arrangements for a peaceful and transparent polling process are in place. The district has 46 hypersensitive and 103 sensitive polling booths where enhanced security measures have been taken. Besides, videography will also be done to maintain transparency.
She said that after the completion of polling, the counting of votes would take place at the same polling location for the respective village to declare the results. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the situation, the polling parties have been asked to keep all the processes transparent and foolproof.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Deepak Pareek said that we have made foolproof security arrangements to thwart any untoward incident during the panchayat elections with the deployment of 2000 police personnel. Besides, poll duty security personnel, mobile teams, and patrolling parties have been constituted to take care of the situation and rush to the spot in case of need, promptly.
He said that the Superintendents of Police and DSPs have been tasked with monitoring particular segments to keep the election process peaceful. He said that nobody will be allowed to disrupt the law and order and strict action will be taken against the violators.
Meanwhile in the wake of panchayat elections tomorrow, all the polling parties have been despatched to their destinations successfully from the despatch centres said ADC (D) Sonam Chaudhary who also holds the charge of Additional District Election Officer.
