In Sanatan Dharma, the time of Pitru Paksha is considered very important for the peace of the soul of the ancestors and their salvation. It is a religious belief that in the month of Pitru Paksha, the ancestors attain salvation by performing Shradh, Tarpan and Pinddaan.
It is said that every year during the time of Pitru Paksha, the ancestors come to Earth from Pitru Lok and are very happy to receive Shradh. This is the reason why the time of Shradh Paksha is considered very good for the worship of ancestors and the works of Tarpan.
According to Acharya Ashok Pandey, this year the time of Pitru Paksha is starting from September 17, 2024 and this time will remain till October 2.
16 Dates Of Pitru Paksha 2024 Shradh
1. 17 September 2024 Purnima Shradh: – The full moon date of Bhadrapada month will be from 11:44 am on 17th September to 8:04 am on 18th September.
2. 18 September 2024 Pratipada Shradh: – Pratipada Tithi of Ashwin month Krishna Paksha will be from 8:04 am on 18 September 2024 to 4:19 am on the next day i.e. 19 September.
3. 19 September 2024 Dwitiya Shradh: – The Dwitiya Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 4.19 am on 19th September to 12.39 am on the next day i.e. 20th September.
4. 20 September 2024, Tritiya Shradh: – The third date of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 12:39 am to 9:15 pm on 20 September.
5. 21 September, 2024 Chaturthi Shradh: – Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 9.15 pm on 20th September to 6.13 pm on the next day i.e. 21st September.
6. 22 September, 2024 Panchami Shradh: – Panchami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 6.13 pm on 21st September to 3.34 pm on the next day i.e. 22nd September.
7. 23 September, 2024 Shashthi Shradh: – Shashthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 3:43 pm on 22nd September to 1:50 pm on 23rd September.
8. 24 September, 2024 Saptami Shradh: – The date of Saptami of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 1:50 pm on 23rd September to 12:38 pm on 24th September.
9. 25 September, 2024 Ashtami Shradh: – Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 12:38 pm on 24 September to 12:10 pm on 25 September.
10. 26 September, 2024 Navami Shradh: – The Navami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 12:10 pm on 25th September to 12:25 pm on 26th September.
11. 27 September, 2024 Dashami Shradh: – Dashami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 12:25 pm on 26 September to 1:20 pm on 27 September.
12. 28 September 2024 Ekadashi Shradh: – Ekadashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 1:20 pm on 27th September to 2:49 pm on 28th September.
13. 29 September 2024 Shradh Of Dwadashi : – Dwadashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 2:49 pm on 28 September to 4:47 pm on 29 September.
14. 30 September, 2024 Trayodashi Shradh : – Trayodashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 4:47 pm on 29th September to 7:06 pm on 30th September.
15. 1 October, 2024 Shradh Of Chaturdashi : – Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will be from 7.06 pm on 30th September to 9.34 pm on 1st October.
16. 2 October, 2024 Amavasya Shradh : – Amavasya Tithi of Ashwin month will be from 9.34 pm on October 1 to 12.18 am on October 3.
