A meeting  under the Chairmanship of Shri Rajeev Verma, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, was held today to review the preparedness for dengue prevention and foster multi-sectoral coordination among various departments. A detailed presentation was given to outlining the activities conducted by the Malaria Wing for dengue prevention and control. 

The presentation highlighted innovations, best practices, the current dengue situation in U.T. Chandigarh and neighboring regions, and the expected roles of stakeholders in controlling dengue. A coordination mechanism among stakeholders was also discussed to ensure effective measures are taken to meet the challenges posed by dengue during the current season. 

The Adviser directed the Malaria Wing of the Health Department and the MoH Wing of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) to collaborate on field operations and enforce relevant bye-laws strictly. The Director Health & Family Welfare emphasized the house-to-house surveys being conducted by health workers to identify and eliminate mosquitogenic sources. 

The Secretary of Health proposed solutions to address mosquito breeding in permanently locked and vacant houses by coordinating with the house allotment work inspectors in their respective areas. Shri Rajeev Verma, Advisor to the Administrator,urged all stakeholders to contribute their best efforts in tackling the rising dengue threat, particularly in light of increasing cases in neighboring districts like Panchkula and Mohali. 

The departments resolved to prioritize remedial actions and work jointly to control and prevent vector-borne diseases. A total of 38 participants from key stakeholder departments of the Chandigarh Administration attended the meeting.
