Sujeet Kumar, who was a BJD MP, has resigned from BJD and joined BJP. He had submitted this resignation a month ago to Kudumi community leader Mamta Mohanta of Rajya Sabha and BJD. Sujeet Kumar was elected to Rajya Sabha in April 2020. After resigning from BJD, Sujeet Kumar joined BJP yesterday i.e. Friday, 6 September 2024.
Sujeet Kumar joined BJP in Delhi in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, MP Bhartruhari Mahtab and party's Odisha in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar. Addressing the media after joining BJP, Sujeet Kumar said, "I express my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other BJP leaders. Along with this, he said that resigning from Rajya Sabha was a very big decision for me. He said that due to corruption, there has been no development of any kind in my native place Kalahandi during BJD rule.
Who Is Sujeet Kumar?
Sujeet Kumar is an Indian politician. He was born on 17 November 1975. He is currently a politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party and a former member of the Lok Sabha. He has represented Odisha in the Council of States or Upper House (Rajya Sabha) from 2020 to 2024. Apart from this, he is also a lawyer and trained mediator and practices in the Supreme Court of India or various High Courts and tribunals.
Sujeet Kumar's Career
Sujeet Kumar started his corporate career as a software engineer at Infosys Technologies Limited. He then moved to the development sector and worked with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). In Odisha, he worked as the manager of 'ICT for Development' of this company.
Sujeet Kumar Honoured With Award
Sujeet Kumar has been honored with many awards. For example, he was honored with the Odisha Youth Prerana Award in 2017. This award was given to him by the Odisha Diary Foundation. Apart from this, he has been honored with many awards, like the Mason Scholar and Hauser Fellow Award for 2010 to 2011, the East West Center Award for 2009 to 2010, the Young Indian Award as the President of Bhubaneswar Chapter for 2012 to 2013, etc.
