As part of Swachhata Pakhwada, the Department of Youth Services and Sports, in collaboration with the District Administration Bandipora, today organized a marathon/plog run under the themes ‘Swachhta He Sewa Hai’ and ‘Say No to Single Use Plastics’ from Mini Secretariat to S. K Stadium Bandipora. The marathon/plog run was flagged-off by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman along with ADC Umar Shafi Pandit and District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jatinder Singh.

The marathon/plog run was aimed to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and the urgent need to reduce single-use plastics. Participants, including youth, sports enthusiasts, and students from different schools, participated in large numbers to support this noble cause.

The participants carried placards with the messages ‘Say No to Plastic’, ‘Cleaner Today Greener Tomorrow’ to raise awareness among the general public. The DC emphasized the significance of maintaining cleanliness and the detrimental effects of single-use plastics on the environment. 

He lauded the efforts of the Youth Services and Sports Department in organizing such impactful events that encourage community participation and environmental consciousness. The marathon culminated with a collective pledge by all participants to contribute towards a cleaner and greener Bandipora.
