Patiala Locomotive Works, a proud unit of the Indian Railways, hosted the 41st Electric Locomotive Maintenance Study Group (MSG) Meeting on March 21st and 22nd, 2024, as per the directives of the Railway Board. Esteemed senior officers from various railways, alongside the Railway Board, including Shri Vijay Pratap Singh, Additional Member (Traction) Railway Board, graced the occasion, enriching the discussions with their invaluable insights.
The meeting centered on deliberating the challenges and opportunities in electric locomotive maintenance, with a keen focus on ensuring the seamless operation of the railway network. Recognizing the indispensable role of locomotives in the railway ecosystem, officers engaged in productive discussions, sharing expertise and experiences to enhance maintenance practices and address operational hurdles.
Shri Pramod Kumar, Principal Chief Administrative Officer (PCAO), extended a warm welcome to the chief guest and participants, fostering an environment conducive to fruitful exchange of ideas. Shri Vijay Pratap Singh Additional member (Traction) Railway Board emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in overcoming challenges faced by the railway in maintaining electric locomotives.
Expressing gratitude, PCAO Shri Pramod Kumar thanked the chief guest and all officers for their valuable contributions, underscoring the importance of collective efforts in ensuring the continued efficiency and reliability of the railway network. The following day witnessed the exciting Loco cab competition at the PLW Workshop, where 13 3-Phase electric locos from different railways were received.
Inspection, conducted by Shri Vijay Partap Singh, Additional Member (Traction), Railway Board, and Shri Pramod Kumar, PCAO, Patiala, alongside Railway Board officers, Six outstanding locos stood out among 13 locos. Trophies were awarded accordingly, with the top honours going to the Lalagoda Loco from South Central Railways and the Vatva Loco from Western Railway, recognised for their excellence in design and performance.
The first ruuner-up positions were secured the Ajni Loco from Central Railway and Kanpur Loco from the North Central Railways, while the second runner-up position was won by the Krishnaralpuram Loco from South Western Railway and the Arrakonam Loco from Southern Railway, as per remarkable innovation and efficiency.
The 41st Electric Locomotive Maintenance Study Group Meeting concluded with a sense of optimism, as participants reaffirmed their commitment to advancing maintenance practices and upholding the highest standards of operational excellence.

भारतीय रेलवे की गौरवशाली इकाई, पटियाला लोकोमोटिव वर्क्स ने रेलवे बोर्ड के निर्देशों के अनुसार 21 और 22 मार्च, 2024 को 41वीं इलेक्ट्रिक लोकोमोटिव मेंटेनेंस स्टडी ग्रुप (एम.एस.जी) बैठक की मेजबानी की। रेलवे बोर्ड के एडिशनल मेम्बर (ट्रैक्शन) श्री विजय प्रताप सिंह सहित रेलवे बोर्ड के साथ-साथ विभिन्न रेलवे के सम्मानित वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने इस अवसर पर अपनी अमूल्य अंतर्दृष्टि से चर्चा को समृद्ध किया।
बैठक रेलवे नेटवर्क के निर्बाध संचालन को सुनिश्चित करने पर जोर देने के साथ इलेक्ट्रिक लोकोमोटिव रखरखाव में चुनौतियों और अवसरों पर विचार-विमर्श करने पर केंद्रित थी। बैठक के दौरान रेलवे अधिकारी रखरखाव प्रथाओं को बढ़ाने और रेलवे पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र में परिचालन बाधाओं को दूर करने के लिए सार्थक चर्चा, विशेषज्ञता और अनुभव साझा किया।
प्रधान मुख्य प्रशासनिक अधिकारी (पी.सी.ए.ओ) श्री प्रमोद कुमार ने एडिशनल मेम्बर (ट्रैक्शन) श्री विजय प्रताप सिंह सहित रेलवे बोर्ड के साथ-साथ विभिन्न रेलवे के सम्मानित वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों का गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया, जिससे विचारों के सार्थक आदान-प्रदान के लिए अनुकूल माहौल तैयार हुआ। रेलवे बोर्ड के एडिशनल मेम्बर (ट्रैक्शन) श्री विजय प्रताप सिंह ने इलेक्ट्रिक इंजनों के रखरखाव में रेलवे के सामने आने वाली चुनौतियों पर काबू पाने में सहयोगात्मक प्रयासों के महत्व पर जोर दिया।
आभार व्यक्त करते हुए, पी.सी.ए.ओ. श्री प्रमोद कुमार ने रेलवे नेटवर्क की निरंतर दक्षता और विश्वसनीयता सुनिश्चित करने में सामूहिक प्रयासों के महत्व को रेखांकित करते हुए, मुख्य अतिथि और सभी अधिकारियों को उनके बहुमूल्य योगदान के लिए धन्यवाद दिया। अगले दिन पी.एल.डब्ल्यू वर्कशॉप में रोमांचक लोको कैब प्रतियोगिता देखी गई, जहां विभिन्न रेलवे से 13 3-चरण इलेक्ट्रिक लोको हिसा लेने आये । रेलवे बोर्ड के एडिशनल मेम्बर (ट्रैक्शन) श्री विजय प्रताप सिंह और श्री प्रमोद कुमार, पी.सी.ए.ओ, पटियाला द्वारा रेलवे बोर्ड के अधिकारियों के साथ किए गए निरीक्षण में 13 लोको में से छह उत्कृष्ट लोको सामने आए।
तदनुसार ट्राफियां प्रदान की गईं, शीर्ष सम्मान दक्षिण मध्य रेलवे के लालागोडा लोको और पश्चिम रेलवे के वटवा लोको को दिया गया, जिन्हें डिजाइन और प्रदर्शन में उत्कृष्टता के लिए मान्यता दी गई। प्रथम रनर-अप स्थान मध्य रेलवे से अजनी लोको और उत्तर मध्य रेलवे से कानपुर लोको ने हासिल किया, जबकि दूसरा रनर-अप स्थान दक्षिण पश्चिम रेलवे से क्रिश्नाराजपुरम लोको और दक्षिणी रेलवे से अर्राकोणम लोको ने जीता।
41वीं इलेक्ट्रिक लोकोमोटिव रखरखाव अध्ययन समूह की बैठक आशावाद की भावना के साथ संपन्न हुई, क्योंकि प्रतिभागियों ने रखरखाव प्रथाओं को आगे बढ़ाने और परिचालन उत्कृष्टता के उच्चतम मानकों को बनाए रखने के लिए अपनी प्रतिबद्धता की पुष्टि दरसाई।
