Under the overall supervision of District Election Officer Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, dedicated efforts are underway to diligently execute the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Campaign in the district. This campaign aims to raise awareness about voting rights and ethical voting practices across the Kishtwar district in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024 for the parliamentary Constituency Udhampur scheduled for April 19th.

As part of the SVEEP initiatives, the SVEEP Cell of the District Election Office Kishtwar orchestrated a vibrant Rangoli Competition event in spirit with the ‘Holi Ka Tyohar, Chunavi Bahar’ today. This event played a pivotal role in engaging the community and fostering awareness for maximum participation in the democratic process, particularly within Kishtwar District.

The District Nodal officer for SVEEP activities/ACR Kishtwar, Idrees Lone collaborated extensively with educational institutions and various organizations to educate the populace about the significance of their role as voters in a democracy. Today’s event was meticulously coordinated by District Nodal Officer SVEEP in conjunction with District Information Officer Kishtwar, Dr. Kuldeep Kumar.

A total of 10 teams comprising 50 participants, including Anganwari Workers of ICDS, students and faculty members from different schools, GDC Kishtwar, Government Polytechnic College Kishtwar, ITI Kishtwar and local artists enthusiastically participated in the Rangoli competition. Participants showcased their creativity and talent in promoting ethical voting practices.

District Election Officer Kishtwar, commended the students for their enthusiastic participation and lauded their creativity and talent displayed during the competition. “Rangoli serves a purpose beyond mere decoration, it embodies imagination and innovative ideas,” remarked the District Election Officer. Emphasizing the broader goal of education, he highlighted the importance of Voting in democratic setup.

The DEO also encouraged students participation in activities aimed at raising awareness of voting rights. Team A of GDC Kishtwar clinched the first position and was awarded Rs. 10000,  Team ‘B’ of GDC Kishtwar secured  second position receiving  Rs. 5000 while local artists Ninu Kumari and Priyanka claimed Rs. 3000 by securing  third spot.

The successful execution of the Rangoli Competition underscores the effectiveness of community engagement initiatives in promoting voter awareness and ethical electoral practices. Such endeavours serve as a testament to the commitment of all stakeholders towards fostering a vibrant and participatory democracy within Kishtwar district.
