Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Jal Shakti, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar inaugurated India’s first FutureLABS center in C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram today. This center, namely, “Centre for Semiconductor Chips & Systems for Strategic Electronics”, will be playing a crucial role in catalyzing an ecosystem for next generation chip design, manufacturing, and research.
Among the other announcements, there was a collaboration announced between C-DAC (T) and the Ministry of Railways for the development of electric locomotive technologies. An MoU was signed between C-DAC(T) and Tata Power for the development and deployment of microgrid technologies.
There was also the announcement for the transfer of technology of the electric vehicle wireless charger, developed by C-DAC(T) and VNIT Nagpur, to BelRise Industries Limited.Along With key industry partners, the Minister addressed over 100 students and explained to them what this center will provide to them in terms of opportunities.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “You have seen the amount of silicon in Chandrayaan 3 and electronics in INS Vikrant, both have deep roots in Kerala. The idea of FutureLABS is really a partnership between CDAC as the government system, industry, students, startups, and academia.
Our vision is very clear in the government and in the industry, that the world’s digitization and the digital economies of the world are expanding today at an unprecedented pace. Three areas have great potential for Indian startups and students — AI, Semiconductors, and the future of electronics.
CDAC will be a willing and facilitating partner to create these labs within colleges and universities. This initiative will make Thiruvananthapuram India’s next innovation hub.”The Minister also explained the inherent necessity for such collaborations and initiatives.
He said, “India has made tremendous strides in the semiconductors, for 75 years we had no presence in semiconductors at all, and in the last few years we have received 2.5 lakh crores of investments and we are now e creating an ecosystem that ranges from Fabs manufacturing, innovation, packaging, design, skills and research.
The digitisation and digital technologies is accelerating at an unprecedented pace even in areas that are not intuitively digital, technology is making its presence felt. So clearly Digitisation as a trend is increasing. The second trend is that of the Semiconductors and Artificial intelligence are two dominant technologies that are going to shape the future of what we know as Tech in the coming years.
And the third, is that every system that you know today whether it’s the laptop, desktop or the serve, compute automotive, railways is being redesigned and re-architected almost from scratch. So there is an opportunity today to completely re-architect and redesign systems.
I call this the next wave of startups, next wave of systems and the next wave of innovation, it’s what the future LABS is all about. The industry partners in attendance highlighted how collaboration with C-DAC has bore fruit and therefore they will continue their support in enhancing Kerala’s tech innovation ecosystem.

Shri Manoj Gupta, CEO, TP Renewable Microgrid Ltd said, “The collaboration between Tata Power and CDAC, is a historical moment. As an organization, we have set up micro grids which are solar operated, with the battery technology which is recent to empower 200 villages in UP and Bihar. We will continue to do that in Kerala as well. With this collaboration we will be able to harness the power of microgrids.

'तिरुवनंतपुरम भारत का अगला नवाचार केंद्र होगा, जहां फ्यूचरलैब्स सेंटर अगली पीढ़ी के चिप डिजाइन, विनिर्माण एवं अनुसंधान के लिए एक परिवेश को बढ़ावा देगा': केंद्रीय मंत्री राजीव चंद्रशेखर

केंद्रीय आईटी एवं इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स, कौशल विकास, उद्यमिता और जल शक्ति राज्य मंत्री श्री राजीव चंद्रशेखर ने आज सी-डैक तिरुवनंतपुरम में भारत के पहले फ्यूचरलैब्स सेंटर का उद्घाटन किया। 'सेंटर फॉर सेमीकंडक्टर चिप्स एंड सिस्टम्स फॉर स्ट्रैटेजिक इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स' नाम का यह केंद्र अगली पीढ़ी के चिप डिजाइन, विनिर्माण एवं अनुसंधान के लिए एक परिवेश को बढ़ावा देने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाएगा।अन्य घोषणाओं में इलेक्ट्रिक लोकोमोटिव प्रौद्योगिकी के विकास के लिए सी-डैक (टी) और रेल मंत्रालय के बीच सहयोग की घोषणा शामिल है।
इसके अलावा माइक्रोग्रिड प्रौद्योगिकी के विकास एवं उपयोग के लिए सी-डैक (टी) और टाटा पावर के बीच एक समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए। सी-डैक (टी) और वीएनआईटी नागपुर द्वारा विकसित इलेक्ट्रिक वाहन वायरलेस चार्जर की तकनीक बेलराइज इंडस्ट्रीज लिमिटेड को हस्तांतरित करने की भी घोषणा की गई। मंत्री ने प्रमुख उद्योग भागीदारों के साथ 100 से अधिक छात्रों को संबोधित किया और बताया कि यह केंद्र उन्हें किस प्रकार के अवसर प्रदान करेगा।
श्री राजीव चंद्रशेखर ने कहा, 'आपने चंद्रयान 3 में जो सिलिकन और आईएनएस विक्रांत में इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स का उपयोग देखा है, उनकी जड़ें केरल में निहित हैं। वास्तव में फ्यूचरलैब्स का विचार सरकारी सिस्टम के तौर पर सी-डैक, उद्योग, छात्र, स्टार्टअप और शिक्षा जगत के बीच एक साझेदारी है। सरकार और उद्योग में हमारा दृष्टिकोण बिल्कुल स्पष्ट है कि दुनिया का डिजिटलीकरण और दुनिया की डिजिटल अर्थव्यवस्थाएं आज अभूतपूर्व गति से विस्तार कर रही हैं।
भारतीय स्टार्टअप और छात्रों के लिए तीन क्षेत्रों- एआई, सेमीकंडक्टर और भविष्य के इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स- में काफी संभावनाएं हैं। सीडीएसी कॉलेजों और विश्वविद्यालयों में ऐसी प्रयोगशालाएं स्थापित करने में दिलचस्पी रखने और सुविधा प्रदान करने वाला भागीदार होगा। यह पहल तिरुवनंतपुरम को भारत का अगला नवाचार केंद्र बनाएगी।'
मंत्री ने इस तरह के सहयोग एवं पहल की बुनियादी जरूरत के बारे में भी बताया। उन्होंने कहा, 'भारत ने सेमीकंडक्टर के क्षेत्र में जबरदस्त प्रगति की है। पिछले 75 वर्षों तक सेमीकंडक्टर के क्षेत्र में हमारी कोई मौजूदगी नहीं थी, मगर पिछले कुछ वर्षों के दौरान हमें 2.5 लाख करोड़ का निवेश प्राप्त हुआ है। अब हम एक ऐसा परिवेश तैयार कर रहे हैं जिसका दायरा फैब विनिर्माण से लेकर नवाचार, पैकेजिंग, डिजाइन, कौशल और अनुसंधान तक विस्तृत है। डिजिटलीकरण और डिजिटल प्रौद्योगिकी अभूतपूर्व गति से बढ़ रही हैं।
यहां तक कि इनका विस्तार उन क्षेत्रों में भी हो रहा है जो सहज रूप से डिजिटल नहीं हैं, मगर वहां भी यह प्रौद्योगिकी अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज कर रही है। इसलिए एक प्रवृत्ति के तौर पर डिजिटलीकरण का स्पष्ट रूप से विस्तार हो रहा है। दूसरी प्रवृत्ति यह है कि सेमीकंडक्टर और आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस ऐसी दो प्रमुख प्रौद्योगिकी हैं जो आने वाले वर्षों में तकनीकी के भविष्य को आकार देने जा रही हैं।
तीसरा, हरेक सिस्टम जिसे आप आज जानते हैं, चाहे वह लैपटॉप हो या डेस्कटॉप या फिर सर्वर, कंप्यूट ऑटोमोटिव या रेलवे, सभी को लगभग सभी का डिजाइन और आर्किटेक्चर नए सिरे से तैयार किया जा रहा है। इसलिए आज सिस्टम को पूरी तरह नए सिरे से आर्किटेक्ट और नए सिरे से डिजाइन करने का अवसर है। मैं इसे स्टार्टअप की अगली लहर, सिस्टम की अगली लहर और नवाचार की अगली लहर कहता हूं, यही फ्यूचरलैब्स है।'
उपस्थित उद्योग भागीदारों ने इस बात पर प्रकाश डाला कि सी-डैक के साथ सहयोग कैसे सफल रहा है और इसलिए वे केरल के इस तकनीकी नवाचार परिवेश को बढ़ावा देने के लिए अपना समर्थन जारी रखेंगे।कल्याणी पावरट्रेन लिमिटेड के उपाध्यक्ष (ई-मोबिलिटी) श्री अतुल देशमुख ने कहा, 'मंत्री श्री राजीव चंद्रशेखर के निरंतर समर्थन एवं दमदार नेतृत्व के कारण हम बड़े पैमाने पर विस्तार करने और उत्कृष्टता हासिल करने में समर्थ हुए हैं। हम इन पहलों के जरिये ऐसी अन्य साझेदारियों की उम्मीद करते हैं।'
टीपी रिन्यूएबल माइक्रोग्रिड लिमिटेड के सीईओ श्री मनोज गुप्ता ने कहा, 'टाटा पावर और सी-डैक के बीच सहयोग एक ऐतिहासिक क्षण है। एक संगठन के तौर पर हमने माइक्रो ग्रिड स्थापित किए हैं जो बैटरी तकनीक के साथ सौर ऊर्जा से संचालित होते हैं। हाल में स्थापित इन माइक्रो ग्रिड ने उत्तर प्रदेश और बिहार के 200 गांवों को सशक्त बनाया है। हम केरल में भी इसे जारी रखेंगे। इस साझेदारी के जरिये हम माइक्रोग्रिड की ताकत का उपयोग करने में समर्थ होंगे।'
जेएमवी एलपीएस लिमिटेड की निदेशक सुश्री मीनाक्षी सिंह ने कहा, 'डिजिटल इंडिया और उद्यमिता की दिशा में मंत्री के इस शानदार कार्य एवं दृढ़ संकल्प ने आत्मनिर्भरता एवं प्रौद्योगिकी के प्रति कई कंपनियों का मनोबल बढ़ाया है। सी-डैक और भारतीय रेल के साथ मिलकर जेएमवी ने एक महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि- तीन हिस्से वाली स्वदेशी लोकोमोटिव प्रणोदन प्रणाली- हासिल की है।
लोकोमोटिव प्रोपल्शन सिस्टम की यह घरेलू तकनीक न केवल नवाचार के प्रति हमारी प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाती है बल्कि भारत को रेलवे प्रोपल्शन सिस्टम के क्षेत्र में एक वैश्विक खिलाड़ी के रूप में स्थापित करती है। इसके अलावा, हम रेलवे के लिए स्वदेशी रूप तौर पर डिजाइन, विकसित एवं निर्मित एआई आधारित पूर्वानुमानित रखरखाव प्रणाली के जरिये रेलवे के रखरखाव एवं संचालन व्यवस्था को आधुनिक बनाने में योगदान दे रहे हैं।'
