Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said here today that Rs 32.50 lakh have been released for the renovation of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Stadium in Handiaya. The Sports Department has given in-principle approval for the renovation work of the stadium and has approved the release of funds to the Nagar Panchayat Handiaya.
Meet Hayer said that on the efforts of Chief Minister Mr Bhagwant Singh Mann, the sports department was creating sports culture in the state, the sports infrastructure is being strengthened and new sports nurseries and sports stadiums are also being built. He added that this shall add to the sports glory of state.
Sports Minister Meet Hayer said that Handiaya town has produced great players especially in basketball and netball. He said that with the renovation of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Stadium, the players here will get more facilities.

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਖੇਡ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਗੁਰਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਇੱਥੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਹੰਢਿਆਇਆ ਦੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗ਼ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਸਟੇਡੀਅਮ ਦੇ ਨਵੀਨੀਕਰਨ ਲਈ 32.50 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਸਟੇਡੀਅਮ ਦੇ ਨਵੀਨੀਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਕ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨਗੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਨਗਰ ਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਹੰਢਿਆਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਫੰਡ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ. ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਖੇਡ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੇਡ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਤਹਿਤ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਢਾਂਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਖੇਡ ਨਰਸਰੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਖੇਡ ਸਟੇਡੀਅਮ ਵੀ ਬਣਾਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਖੇਡ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਹੰਢਿਆਇਆ ਕਸਬੇ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਬਾਸਕਿਟਬਾਲ ਤੇ ਨੈੱਟਬਾਲ ਖੇਡ ਵਿੱਚ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗ਼ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਸਟੇਡੀਅਮ ਦੇ ਨਵੀਨੀਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਮਿਲਣਗੀਆਂ।
