Director Sericulture J&K, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat today conducted a surprise visit to various offices, mulberry nurseries, and farms in South Kashmir. The surprise inspection was aimed at ensuring the efficiency and optimal functioning of the department, focusing on key aspects viz. employee attendance, office infrastructure and the overall maintenance of departmental assets.

During the visit, Director Sericulture while checking the attendance of employees, emphasized the importance of punctuality and dedication of employees towards their official duties, besides, the need of concerted efforts for dissemination of awareness about various sericulture activities, schemes, facilities and other sericulture practices among farmers and youth of J&K.

He inspected office buildings, mulberry nurseries, and farms to assess the condition of the facilities and identify areas for improvement. He directed the officers to complete all the developmental projects well in time and work on mission mode to achieve all the targets envisioned in Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).

He also directed them to share their technical expertise among the silkworm rearing community and youth in the Skill Development Training Programmes started by the department under capacity building initiative. The Director exhorted upon the officers and the field functionaries/ officials of the department to work in a coordinated manner with silkworm rearers and youth to assist them in enhancing their income generation through silkworm rearing and other associated activities vis-à-vis sericulture sector.

He also stressed upon the officers and employees to adopt a proactive approach and will not leave any stone unturned for achieving bumper and double crop in the upcoming rearing season. Speaking on the occasion, the Director informed that any liability on account of incentives provided to silkworm rearers/ farmers by the department will be cleared shortly.

Moreover, the Director reiterated his commitment to foster exceptional growth in the sericulture sector in J&K, so that the silkworm rearing communities living in the far flung areas across J&K will thrive and prosper leaps and bounds.
