Chandigarh , 07 Aug 2013

In a major boost to ensure the best quality health care and diagnostic facilities to the residents of the border areas of the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today approved to allot 25 acres of land in Ferozepur to PGIMER, Chandigarh for setting up of another 100-bedded hospital as its satellite centre. This would be the second one after the upcoming satellite centre of PGIMER at Sangrur.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Mr. Badal agreed to the proposal mooted by the Financial Commissioner Development to allot 25 out of 50 acres of Panchayat land at Wajidpur village near Ferozepur to the Horticulture Department in lieu of its land to be given to the PGIMER for establishing its satellite centre at Ferozepur. The spokesman further said that the process of transferring 25 acres of land to the Horticulture Department would be initiated after passing a resolution by the newly elected Panchayat immediately after sworn in.
