Secretary in Agriculture Production Department, Shabnam Kamili today visited Mega Fruit Plant Nursery, Chakroi, R. S Pura, here today. She was accompanied by Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak; Director Horticulture Kashmir, Ghulam Rasool Mir; Director Command Area Development, Nagender Singh Jamwal; Managing Director JKHPMC, Imamdin; Secretary, Kissan Advisory Board, Abdul Hamid Wani; Kissan Advisory Board Member, Jia Lal Sharma (Ex Director Horticulture); and Joint Director Horticulture Jammu, C. L Sharma.
Shabnam Kamili inspected the State of the Art protected cultivation structures viz. Hi-Tech poly green house, Insect proof net house, Screen house, Automated Micro Irrigation System, Mother Blocks of Mango, Guava, Litchi, Cirrus, Dragon Fruit etc.
The Secretary took a detailed review of the process of production of quality fruit plants of different fruit crops and their further distribution among the farming community and final realization of the revenue. She also keenly inspected the under construction infrastructure for the establishment of laboratories viz. Tissue Culture, Virus Indexing and Bio-control Laboratories.
Director Horticulture Jammu briefed the Secretary about the completed as well as ongoing developmental works in the 805 kanal nursery for its holistic development. He informed that the nursery is being developed with latest technologies for production of quality true to type High Density fruit Plants.
Shabnam Kamili appreciated the development of works on scientific lines in the mega nursery. She further impressed upon the officers to work with added zeal and zest for producing maximum number of quality plant material so that the common farmer is benefitted.
