The Department of Life Sciences of the Rayat Bahra University organised “Suposhan - Millet Based Nutritious Food” - Live Kitchen Show where students were provided hands-on training on Indian traditional millet recipes. Dean Students Welfare was the convener of the event which was organized in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education. 

Gurvinder singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, lauded the initiative of the organisers and hoped that it would help promote use of millets. Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor encouraged and appreciated training provided regarding cooking techniques for millet-based food items.

Dean Students Welfare stated that the United Nations General Assembly had declared 2023 International Year of Millets and highlighted the nutritional and health benefits of millets and their suitability for cultivation under adverse climatic conditions. Dr Preeti Sharma Rawat, Dr Harinderjit Kaur, Dr Parul, Dr Anita, Dr Shayna coordinated the workshop.

Many delicious food items were prepared which included Bajre ki Roti; Sarson Ka Saag; Millet Upma, Bajre Ki khichdi; Raagi Chilla etc. During hands-on training, the students were enlightened about the benefits of millet (Bajra) based food and demonstrated the recipes to prepare healthy delicious food. All the participants relished the delicious lunch and promised to include healthy food items in their meals.
