The preparations for holding the gala National Basketball Championship event at Ludhiana under the organising committee chairmanship of Kuldeep Singh Chahal IPS CP Ludhiana are complete as told by Teja Singh Dhaliwal PBA Gen Sec at Guru Nanak Stadium .
A colourful information brochure about history of basketball games in Punjab with its origin from Ludhiana, City's historical past ,its entrepreneurships, its freedom fighters and martyrs was released today which has been prepared by the District Basketball Association for the benefit of visitors.
The Punjab's Men & Women team members were seen practicing in the grounds and were seen in upbeat spirit for the competition . BFI technical officials have already arrived and they are satisfied with the arrangements of grounds, hotels and food .
It has been informed by BFI that this time a record number of 64 teams (Men & Women ) have confirmed their participation and they are on their way to Ludhiana by Rail and Air. Teams from Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya, Goa arrived in the evening already .
Mukhwinder Singh Bullar SSP and VP of PBA informed that the police department will engage in a special signatures campaign by the players and officials involving all the visitors --"Say Yes To Sport & No To Drugs".
He appreciated the relentless efforts of the district basketball association members .The championship will be inaugurated by Shri Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Youth & Sports Minister, Punjab on 3rd December on Sunday . The sponsors from different quarters are supporting the event in a big way.
