In a bid to reach out to the vulnerable section of society who are eligible to benefit from various government schemes but have not yet got any benefit, a Sankalp Yatra is being planned by Government of India. Presiding over a meeting of all department heads, at Ashok Chakra Meeting Hall in District Administrative Complex, Joint Secretary from Ministry of Education, Department of School Education and Literacy Dr Amarpreet Duggal made all the officers aware about real objective of this Yatra.

Flanked by Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar and SSP Harjeet Singh, Dr Duggal, she said that chief motive of Yatra is dissemination of information and generating awareness about government schemes at grass root level. For this purpose two mobile vans will cover three villages in all 171 villages of Faridkot district, comprising 243 Panchayats, she said. She added that apart from the Nodal Department (Rural Development) all the officers will chip-in to not only sensitise public about Government Welfare Schemes but also help in getting benefit for the needy.

“Apart from sensitising Central Government‘s 17 important schemes, we also plan to enrol potential beneficiaries during the Yatra”, Dr Duggal said. The 17 major schemes include Ayushman  Bharat (PMJAY), PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Kisan Samman, Jan Dhan Yojana etc. The Joint Secretary stated that apart from covering the rural areas, focus of attention of this campaign will also be the slum and dense urban settlements.

The vans will be comprised of LED screens, standees, panels, booklets, brochures and selected videos and movies interspersed with audio-visual content and bytes of the beneficiaries. Cultural performances and activities will also be a part of this campaign. ADC(d) Nirbhinder Singh, SDM Faridkot Major Varun Kumar, SDM Jaitu Parleen Kaur, SDM Kotkapura Veerpal Kaur and DPRO Gurdeep Singh Mann were among other who also attended the meeting.
