The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has ensured robust arrangements in all 1854 mandis of the State besides making sure of lifting the produce and making payments in 24 hours with regard to paddy procured during the ongoing procurement season. Disclosing this here today at Anaj mandi while taking stock of the procurement arrangements, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak expressed satisfaction that required arrangements have been made for catering to the interests of all the stakeholders viz.
Farmers, arhtiyas and the labourers. He said the procurement, lifting and payments are being made using the digital mode. He further said that till date, 137.8 LMT paddy has arrived in the mandis of the State out of which 134.9 LMT has been procured. Total payments worth Rs. 21360.09 crores have been made to farmers. The Minister appealed to the farmers to desist from burning paddy stubble.
On the occasion, DC Paramvir Singh, ADC General Ravinder Singh, Chairman District Planning Committee Charanjit Singh Akkanwali, Chairman Market Committee Mansa Gurpreet Singh Bhuchchar, DFSC Mandeep Singh Mann, Secretary Market Committee Jagtar Singh and others were also present.
