Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development Department (RDD) and Panchayat Raj, Mandeep Kour, today visited Shopian and laid foundation stone for District Development Council (DDC) Office building at Gagran Shopian besides inspecting development works there. DDC, Chairperson, Shopian, Bilqees Jan and other officers were present on the occasion.

Commissioner Secretary was informed that the  District Development Council Office Complex  shall be executed at an  estimated cost of Rs. 2.57 crore. This will further strengthen the Panchayati Raj system, making it the engine of community development in future. She exhorted upon the executing agencies for completion of the project  within a fixed timeline as per the approved specifications.

Mandeep Kour also inspected various development projects including Amrit Sarovar at Borihalan Shopian besides other works. She stated that the UT administration has been top performer and highly successful in building and rejuvenating Amrit Sarovars across the UT.

Commissioner Secretary emphasized upon RDD and PR officers and officials to achieve developmental targets in full, across schemes of the department, both physically and financially during the ongoing year by speeding up the pace of ongoing works. On the occasion, Mandeep Kour interacted with PRIs and citizens, who put forth their issues and concerns before her.

Commissioner Secretary heard them patiently and assured for timely redressal of their genuine demands. Director, RDD, Shabir Ahmed Bhat, ADDC, Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, ACD, Shopian, Hilal Ahmed Jeri, ACP, Shopian, Manzoor Ahmed, BDOs and other officers and officials of RDD accompanied her duirng the visit.
