A five day Theatre Workshop organized by Department of Music and Students Welfare Committee, Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur in collaboration with Department of Students Welfare University of Jammu, concluded here today on the GCW campus.Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, University of Jammu, Prof. Monika Chadha, was the special guest on the occasion.

Prof. Monika Chadha lauded the efforts of Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu and Department of Music GCW Udhampur for organizing such a wonderful workshop, which gave opportunity to the participants of affiliated colleges with University of Jammu.

She said that the Training Outreach programme is an initiative by the Department of Students Welfare University of Jammu. She said that like this programme would kindle an interest for cultural, literary, fine-arts activities amongst the students which is also an important aspect for their holistic personality development. 

She further said that participating in such a performing arts workshop is a positive sign of the development of art and culture. Prof. Chadha added that the participants have benefited a lot from this workshop and all the participants have learned different techniques of theatre, which must have instilled confidence in them. 

She urged the departments to organize more such programs in the near future as well. While speaking on the occasion, Principal GCW Udhampur, Prof. Anjali Mahajan congratulated the organizers for organizing such a meaningful workshop. 

She said that theater is a place where diverse individuals come together, and in doing so, you have created a unique family bound by a shared passion.Prof Mahajan informed that throughout the workshop, participants have explored the vast landscapes of emotions, delved into complex characters, and discovered the transformative power of storytelling. 

The stage has been your canvas, and each performance a masterpiece in its own right, she added.As many as 50 students from different colleges of district Udhampur affiliated with University of Jammu have participated in the workshop. 

The students who participated in the workshop from different colleges were GDC Ramnagar, GDC Chenani, GDC Neeli Nallah, Shivalik College of Education, GDC Udhampur, Kalra College of Education, Bhartiya College of Education and Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur respectively.

The workshop was coordinated by Assistant Professor Department of Music, Mr. Yash Kumar, Assistant Professor Dr. Kewal Kumar and Drama Instructor /Incharge Training Outreach Programme Students Welfare University of Jammu, Mr. Sumeet Sharma. Welcome address was presented by Prof. Yash Paul, Member IQAC and the programme was anchored by Anisha Bhat, student of Semester 5th of GCW Udhampur.

Among others, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, University of Jammu, Prof. Sarika Manhas, HoD Music Dr. Seema Sharma, HoD Botany Ashni Devi, Convenor Students Welfare Committee GCW Udhampur, Dr. Meena Gupta, HoD History Yash Paul, PO NSS Prof. Rajinder Singh, Drama Instructor Mr. Sumeet Sharma, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Ms. Nitika Sharma, other senior faculties and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
