In commemoration of the 5th anniversary of Jammu and Kashmir UT Foundation Day and Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the District Administration and District Police Poonch organized a grand 'Run for Unity' rally in Poonch District to observe National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas-2023). The rally aimed to pay tribute to the 'Iron Man of India' and promote the values of national unity and togetherness among the citizens, especially the youth.

The rally commenced from the SSP office in Poonch and proceeded to the Sports Stadium, with participants proudly carrying national flags, placards, and banners to spread the message of national unity. The participants served as ambassadors of unity, emphasizing the importance of unity in diversity.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary, Senior Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar Sharma, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch Tahir Mustafa Malik, along with other district administration and police officers, accompanied the rally. Students from various institutions also actively participated, making the event a resounding success.

Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Poonch emphasized the importance of practicing and promoting unity and brotherhood in everyday life, in line with Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel's vision for India. He stated that the objective of organizing such activities was to foster a sense of 'One India, One Nation.' The Deputy Commissioner also shed light on the life history and contributions of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.

During the event, an oath of unity was administered to the enthusiastic runners, sensitizing them to identify themselves as Indians before any other identity. Additionally, a colorful cultural program, titled 'Unity Concert,' was organized at the Sports Stadium in the evening by the Academy of Art Culture and Language in collaboration with District administration Poonch to celebrate the UT foundation day.

The program featured various singers and artists, including Mohinder Soni, Ashan Asgar, Rasmeet Singh, and Nazir Ahmed, who delivered captivating performances. Deputy Commissioner Poonch presented mementos to the artists, appreciating their talent and dedication.
