The Quality Council of India (QCI) on Saturday organised “Sarpanch Samvaad Outreach Programme” envisioned by QCI Chairperson, Jaxay Shah, here to unite and strengthen the community of Sarpanches of Jammu and Kashmir as part of its broader initiative of establishing a pan-India network of Sarpanches.

The event was embellished by the presence of the Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Udhampur, Lal Chand accompanied by the Chairman Block Development Council, Block Udhampur, Balwan Singh and witnessed the participation of  Sarpanches from across the region.

The main attraction of the occasion was celebrated  PRI Himanshu Patel. In 2011, Punsari village was awarded as the best village Panchayat, and in 2015, Himanshu Patel was awarded as the best Sarpanch in the country. The Quality Council of India's Deputy Director, Manik Gupta, and his team put in a lot of effort to conduct the programme and engage effectively with the participants.

Himanshu Patel revealed that to take the mission of quality to the villages of India and to revitalise rural development, the QCI launched the ‘SarpanchSamvaad’ mobile application in the august presence of the Governor of Assam, Gulab Chand Kataria, on September 12, 2023, at the Raj Bhawan, Guwahati.

He said that the Sarpanch Samvaad App aims to create a digital network and connect approximately 2.5 lakh Sarpanches across India, providing an exclusive and convenient single platform for networking, knowledge dissemination, and collaboration.

The application allows Sarpanches to share best practices, showcase development works undertaken in villages, discover content tailored to their interests and needs, avail information about government schemes, learn from training modules, and seek suggestions from experts.

In his address, chairman DDC Udhampur Lal Chand said the Sarpanch Samvaad app will facilitate the grassroots leaders in improving public service delivery and take the agenda of good governance to the gram level.

Applauding QCI’s unique initiative for empowering Sarpanches, he believes that this will lay a strong foundation for quality in Indian villages, subsequently uplift the quality of life, and create thriving ‘Atmanirbhar Villages’ for an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

Quality Council of India's Deputy Director, Manik Gupta also spoke on the occasion and said that QCI is committed to being a responsible player in shaping India’s future as a developed nation by invigorating India's rural landscape.

With the collaborative efforts of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, J&K, QCI will firmly establish a network of Sarpanches and spread the mission of quality across the villages of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
