Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today inaugurated the district-wide Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccination Campaign under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) at the District Veterinary Hospital, Udhampur.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the Animal Husbandry Department's efforts in implementing NADCP and highlighted the importance of timely vaccination in preventing Foot and Mouth Disease, one of the most contagious diseases affecting livestock, noting that effective disease prevention is essential for improving livestock productivity and farmers' economic well-being.

He appealed to livestock owners across the district to cooperate with the department and ensure every animal is vaccinated during the campaign. Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Udhampur Dr Shwetambri Khajuria informed that the campaign will be conducted across all blocks of the district as per the prescribed NADCP schedule, and urged farmers to extend cooperation to field staff and avail the free vaccination services.

The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, IAS Probationer Dr Shagun Singh, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Udhampur Dr Shwetambri Khajuria and officers/officials of the Animal Husbandry Department and livestock farmers.
