Amidst patriotic slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai, ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Hindustan Zinda Baad’, ‘Meri Matti Mera Desh’, besides drum beatings and Nagadas, an impressive ‘Kalash Yatra’ was taken out at Block Headquarters Khoon where ‘Amrit Kalash’ from various Panchayats were received. Vice-Chairperson District Development Council Udhampur, Juhi Manhas Pathania led the Amrit Kalash Yatra from Khoon.

Panch Pran pledge was also administered to the people and participants. Pathania said that the nation owes a duty and an onus to remember the supreme sacrifices of its Martyrs. The Meri Mati Mera Desh initiative of Bharat Sarkar under the dynamic stewardship of Shri Narendra Modi has struck a chord with the right thinking people of the country. A wave of nationalist fervour and duty consciousness has gripped the country.

The families of the Martyrs have also come to realise that virtually there is somebody who remembers them after so many decades. She further said that these yatras provide a platform to the people to connect with their roots and appreciate the rich tapestry of Indian culture. Participants get the opportunity to visit historical sites, ancient temples, and landmarks that showcase the heritage and values that have shaped the nation over centuries. This fosters a sense of belonging and respect for the collective heritage.

Moreover, Amrit Kalash Yatras help educate individuals about the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and the struggle for independence. This knowledge instils a sense of gratitude and patriotism, reinforcing the importance of upholding the democratic values and principles that the nation stands for. In addition, these yatras often promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices.

Participants are encouraged to respect and preserve the natural beauty and ecosystems of the areas they visit, aligning with India’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Furthermore, Amrit Kalash Yatras can act as a catalyst for social integration and unity. People from diverse backgrounds come together during these journeys, transcending barriers of caste, creed, or region. Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers, local students and spirited youth of the area added flavour to the event.

Block Development Officer Khoon paid tributes to the Martyrs of the country. Romesh Chander Gupta Sarpanch Khoon,  Manoj Verma Sarpanch Bilaspur, Nimarta Bali Naib Sarpanch Khoon, Ved Sharma, Shiv Ram and locals were present on the occasion.
