The Induction Program for the UG 1stSemester students of Batch 2023 at Government Degree College (GDC), Baramulla, was conducted with great enthusiasm and success. The program aimed to provide an informative and welcoming experience for the newly admitted students and to acquaint them with the college's resources, faculty, and various academic offerings.

The program commenced with the gracious presence of Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Farooq, Principal, GDC Baramulla, who inaugurated the session. His welcome address exuded warmth and sincerity as he extended his heartfelt greetings to the incoming students, emphasizing the college's unwavering commitment to nurturing not only their academic pursuits but also their personal growth and aspirations.

Prof. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, Secretary Staff Council and Dean Skill Development, delivered an extensive presentation about the college. He emphasized the remarkable infrastructure of the institution, the array of student support services available, and the wide spectrum of courses offered, effectively engaging the students. 

Additionally, Prof. Chalkoo briefly alluded to the postgraduate programs in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Psychology, thereby expanding the students' academic vistas and fostering their aspirations for the future.

Dr. Abdu RoufBhat, Dean Academics, took the opportunity to illuminate the students about the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its profound implications. He eloquently explained the revised course structure under NEP 2020, underlining its holistic and multidisciplinary approach to education, a paradigm shift that promises an enriched learning experience for the students.

Dr. Navshad Ahmad Wani, Dean, Social and Behavioral Sciences, provided a detailed overview of the various courses offered by departments within this academic domain. He also took the opportunity to introduce the counseling services available through the Al-Razi Chair of Mental Health and Psychotherapy and the Raahat Counseling cum Disability Resource Centre, underscoring the college's commitment to the holistic well-being of its students.

Dr. HumairaQadri, Dean Research, passionately highlighted the flourishing research ecosystem at GDC Baramulla. She encouraged and invited students to actively engage in research activities, showcasing the boundless opportunities for intellectual growth and exploration that the college offers.

Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, Convener, Admissions, captivated the audience by providing an in-depth explanation of the intricate admission process. His lucid and engaging presentation served to clarify any uncertainties the students might have had, ensuring they were well-informed and thoroughly prepared to embark on their academic journey.

The informative session was followed by an interactive question-answer segment, where students had the opportunity to seek clarifications on various aspects of college life, academics, and admissions. This session facilitated a deeper understanding and eased any concerns the students might have had.

Dr. Syed MasaratGeelani, Head, Department of Urdu, effectively moderated the proceedings of the program. Her meticulous approach ensured the smooth conduct of the session, encouraging active student participation and engagement throughout.

The Induction Program conducted at GDC Baramulla for the UG 1st Semester students of Batch 2023 stands as a remarkable success. It served as a gateway to provide invaluable insights into the college's expansive offerings, the evolving academic landscape under NEP 2020, and the comprehensive support services available to students.
