Horticulture Department Doda on Thursday organized District Level Seminar cum Kissan Mela at Fruit Plant Nursery Khellani falling Horticulture Zone Marmat. A large number of farmers, PRI members, Social activists attended the momentous event and got enlightened about flagship government schemes aimed at development of the Horticulture sector.

Chief Horticulture officer, Rakesh Kotwal was the Chief Guest, while among others present were District Horticulture Officer, Shakil Ahmed, Horticulture Development Officer Marmat, Rohan Kumar, Horticulture Development Officers of Doda, Bhagwah, Thathri and officers of Allied Department viz Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Sericulture. 

The farmers were imparted awareness about government schemes offered by the all allied departments.The Chief Horticulture officer, in his address,  asked the participants to bring maximum area under High Density fruit plantation in the coming  season. 

They were specially asked to opt for Apple, Walnut, Apricot, Pear, Plum and Lime plantation for which the land and climate of the area is most suitable. The farmers were apprised that the Horticulture department is providing 50% to 80% subsidy to the interested and eligible applicant under all schemes viz HADP (Mother Block, Nursery Development), Area expansion, Irrigation facilities, Mechanization, Nursery establishment etc.

HDO Marmat presented the vote of thanks to the participant.  The programme was hailed by the participants and asked the department to organize such programmes  on regular intervals.
