The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal today organized Legal Awareness programme on NLSA (Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation) Scheme, 2015, at Little Hearts Public School, Tulmullah, Ganderbal, under the auspices of J&K Legal Services Authority and as per the calendar of activities for the month of August, 2023.

The programme was held under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Ganderbal, Ritesh Kumar Dubey and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak Sub-Judge/ Secretary DLSA Ganderbal.The programme aimed to spread awareness about the legal rights and provisions available to victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. 

With the increasing incidents of these heinous crimes, it becomes crucial to ensure that victims receive the necessary legal aid and support to help them rebuild their lives and to sensitize students about the grave implications of these crimes and encourage them to take proactive steps towards prevention, support, and rehabilitation of victims.

Asif Mustafa, Advocate (Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel), resource person of DLSA, Ganderbal shared his valuable insights during the programme. He emphasized on the valuable information on the provisions outlined in NALSA (Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitations Scheme 2015) and also shed light on legal protections, rehabilitation processes, and support mechanisms available for the victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitations.

The programme also witnessed an engaging discussion and an enlightening Question and Answer session, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to voice their queries directly to the resource person, seeking clarification and further insight into the pressing issues at hand.

District Legal Services Authority extends its heartfelt gratitude to Little Hearts School for their valuable cooperation in organizing this legal awareness programme. This is a significant step towards building a more responsible and vigilant society that actively safeguards the rights and dignity of every individual.

This legal awareness programme received an overwhelming response from the attendees, including students, teachers, and staff  members, of the said school. The participants left the event with a deeper understanding of their rights and a stronger determination to combat the evils of trafficking and sexual exploitation. 

Moving forward, the District Legal Services Authority is committed to organizing similar awareness programmes and events to empower victims and create a society free from trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.
