Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today visited Krishna Nagar in Shimla and met the members of the affected families whose houses were damaged due to a landslide. The families have been provided shelter in a nearby community hall.

The Governor interacted with them and assured all possible assistance to the affected families. He also distributed relief material through the State Red Cross. Vikramaditya Singh, Public Works Minister and Dr. Sadhna Thakur, member, National Red Cross Management Committee were also present on the occasion.

In the last few days, due to the incessant rains, Shimla town has witnessed landslides at various places resulting in heavy loss of life and material. Several houses have fallen and many more are at risk in Krishna Nagar. Residents apprised the Governor that around 250 to 300 families have been affected in Krishna Nagar.

“This is the hour of disaster and every person should come forward to help. The state government is providing relief at every level and doing its best and it is also my duty to stand and work together in this hour of disaster,” said Sh. Shukla.

He directed the district administration to make arrangements to remove the trees which have become a threat to the houses. He said that basic facilities should be provided for the affected families who have been staying in the community hall.
