Youm-e-Ashoora, marking the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) grandson, Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions in the battle of Karbala 1400 years ago, was observed with religious fervour in district Ramban on Saturday.

A mourning procession was taken out by the Shia Muslim community members from Imambara Chanderkote to Karbala via the main market. The devotees recited religious slogans, praising the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his 72 warriors.

Imam Basharat Hussain, who led the procession, said the day marks the victory of the truth over evil.Meanwhile, the civil and Police Administration Ramban had made foolproof security and other necessary arrangements for the convenience of devotees.

Depicting communal harmony and brotherhood, prominent citizens, members of civil society and people from different religious communities were also present on the occasion.Meanwhile the Shia community members organized Shabeels (drinking water) and distributed food among the general public.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam, Additional SP, Gourav Gupta, ACR, Giasul Haq,  Tehsildar, Rafiq Ahmed, Doctors along with ambulances and other officers accompanied the religious procession.
