In a landmark decision aimed at giving relief to the Transporters, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday announced to enhance the days for exempting the transporters for filing tax from existing four to six per month. A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister while chairing a meeting of Transport department here at his office in Punjab Civil Secretariat.

Taking part in deliberations, the Chief Minister said that Transporters face a lot of difficulty in filing the tax due to availability of only four days. He said that keeping in view the larger interests of public the state government has now decided to enhance the number of filing tax from existing four days to six.

Bhagwant Mann envisioned that this will give the much needed relief to the Transporters in the state adding that it will further give fillip to economic activity in the region. The Chief Minister saidthat it was long pending demand of Stage Carriage operators of Punjab as they were seeking an increase in number of days when tax exemption is given, from the current four days per month to six days per month.

He said that the state government which acts as per the wishes of people has accepted this demand of transporters. Bhagwant Mann said that from now onwards number of tax exempted days will be six per month adding that in order to safeguard the interests of people, the cost of this exemption will be borne by the Government.

The Chief Minister said that this will give a huge relief to the transporters across the state. He said that for the first time in history of state a government has been formed which takes care of the interests of every section of the society.

Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is acting purely on feedback of the masses to ensure that they are benefitted by each and every move of the government.
