Punjab Information and Public Relations Minister, Chetan Singh Jauramajra said, here, today, that the role of the media is most important in the efforts being made by Bhagwant Mann Government to transform the state into Rangla Punjab.  He said that the media has to take the people oriented decisions and new initiatives of the state government to the people, so the responsibility of the media becomes more important and bigger. 

Cabinet Minister for Information and Public Relations, Horticulture, Freedom Fighters and Defense Welfare Services, Chetan Singh Jauramajra was here to attend the silver Jubilee of Mohali Press Club and the coronation of the new executive body. Reiterating the Punjab Government's commitment to set up media clubs at district headquarters in the state, Jauramajra said that Chief Minister, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has already made an announcement in this regard. Concrete and sincere efforts will be made to construct a Press Club at Mohali too and whatever funds are required, will be provided. 

He also announced a grant of Rs 03 lakh for  the construction of the club after the availability of the land. He assured to arrange the land with the coordination of local MLA Kulwant Singh and Cabinet Minister , Ms Anmol Gagan Mann.  He expressed hope to hold the next function in the club's own building.

Terming media as an important part of the society, the cabinet minister said  Whatever happens in society, the media presents it before the people. Therefore, the responsibility and role of media is high. 

He said the media always strives to protect and promote interest of people and thwart the nefarious designs of divisive forces to divide the society . He said that it is most important to verify the content before posting it on social media, in the wake of increase in use of social media platforms.

He said that the Chief Minister  Bhagwant Maan has been working relentlessly to put Punjab on the path of progress and prosperity, so there is a great need for the support of the media in propagating the people oriented decisions and new initiatives taken by the government to the people. He said that 80 percent of the MLAs in the present government have come from non-political and ordinary families, among whom there is a lot of passion to do something different and unique for the people. 

Therefore, we should encourage the initiatives taken by these public representatives in their respective constituencies. Referring to the efforts being made by the Chief Minister to ensure canal water to irrigate the crops, he said that during the paddy season, it is for the first time, after so many decades that water has reached the tail ends and there is no problem of electricity power for tubewells in the state.  

He said that if the intentions are good, then God always supports and the work done with sincerity always succeeds and shows good results. In response to a media query about the broadcast of Gurbani from Sri Darbar Sahib, he said that the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Maan's only wish is that the preachings of Guru Granth Sahib should reach each and every home and the broadcast should be free to air.       

The cabinet minister said that in some places, the government faces difficulties in setting up press clubs due to the formation of different groups of media persons at the district and lower levels.  He said that the media persons should resolve such issues by sitting together so that such things do not become an obstacle for the government to establish a press club.

On this occasion, a souvenir of the press club was also released by the cabinet minister and the club honoured the cabinet minister. Mr. Narinder Singh Shergill, Chairman Milkfed also addressed the gathering and appreciates the role of Mohali Media persons in highlighting the public problems.   

Jora Singh Mann, a member of the Press Club and father of Cabinet Minister Anmol Gagan Mann, shared his experiences on the occasion. He said that he has always made efforts for the betterment of the club.  He said that every step will be taken for the betterment of the Mohali Media Persons. On this occasion, MC  Sarabjit Singh Samana, social worker Mrs. Jagjit Kaur Kahlon, Shri Narinder Singh Shergill were also honoured.       

Among the members of new team of Mohali Press Club included Gurmeet Singh Shahi President, Sukhdev Singh Patwari General Secretary, Manjit Singh Chana Vice President, Sushil Garcha and Vijay Kumar Vice President, Rajeev Taneja Cashier, Madam Neelam Thakur and Maya Ram Joint Secretary, Raj Kumar Organizing Secretary and Advocate Amarinder Singh Mandofal from Fatehgarh Sahib besides senior media persons.
