Patiala Administration (District Skill Committee) took a unique initiative under the guidance of Sakshi Sawhney, Deputy Commissioner, Patiala to help the victims of drug abuse gain a skill during their stay at the Rehabilitation centre and move a step closer to a life without drug addiction.

At the closing ceremony of the second batch of skill courses, certificates and toolkits were given to candidates by Anuprita Johal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (RD), Patiala. The batch was being run in collaboration with the ICICI Foundation, Mohali.  

A course of Multi Skill Technician was run from May 15 to June 12 at Saket Hospital by the ICICI Foundation. Abhishek Sharma, Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow, Patiala along with DPMU, PSDM, Patiala i.e. Upkar Singh, Gagandeep Kaur and Harleen Kaur played a vital role in project implementation. 

Also, Parminder Kaur, the Centre in charge of Saket Hospital Patiala played an important role in motivating and counselling the candidates regularly. At the closing ceremony, Anuprita Johal, ADC(RD) addressed the candidates and motivated them to use this opportunity and the skills learnt to start a new life. 

Deepak Sharma, Centre Head, ICICI Foundation, Mohali told them about the future options and opportunities that lay ahead. The closing ceremony marked an important event among many events going on in the district in line with the international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking marked on June 26 every year.
