Disapproving the saying, 'Dehra Koi Nahin Tera', Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while addressing a mammoth gathering at Haripur in Dehra assembly constituency of district Kangra today, gave the slogan 'Dehra Mera,' and said that the development of Dehra was his responsibility and utmost priority. 

He said that an International standard Zoological park will be set up in Bankhandi area of Dehra, with an estimated cost of Rs. 300 crore and is expected to be completed within three years which will generate employment opportunities for 5000 local youths.

In addition, the government will focus on promoting adventure tourism at Pong Lake, allocating Rs. 70 crore for the purpose. Plans include the introduction of hot air balloon activities and the construction of a floating hotel. The state government will also support the youth by providing financial assistance to buy Shikaras, aiming to create employment opportunities in the area, said he.

The Chief Minister said that a Central University was being opened at Dehra and he has taken up the issue with Union Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan to commence the construction work which was in limbo for the last 10 years.

On the demand of the local MLA, Hoshiar Singh the Chief Minister announced the operation of five new bus routes in the area and to reorganize the BDO office in the times to come. Additionally, two Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and an indoor stadium with a swimming pool will be built in the Dehra assembly constituency, he said.

The State Government has started Mukhyamantri Sukhashray Yojana for 6000 orphan children and they have been adopted as ‘Children of the State’, under which the State Government will take full care till they attain the age of 27 years.Furthermore, financial assistance of Rs. 1.50 lakh is being offered to widows and single women to facilitate the construction of houses, he said.

The Chief Minister said that the government is also striving to strengthen the rural economy through the implementation of the 'Him Ganga' scheme. Under this initiative, cow milk will be purchased from cattle rearers at Rs. 80 per liter, while buffalo milk will be bought at Rs. 100 per litre.

The Congress government returned to power in the State  5 months ago with the blessings of the people.  The government has taken many important decisions during this period determining its strong willpower. 

In the first cabinet meeting, the old pension scheme was restored, so that the government employees who played an important role in the development could be benefitted. He said that the employees of HPSEBL would also be brought under the ambit of old pension scheme.

He said that in the first phase, the government has allocated approximately Rs. 450 crore in the budget for providing a monthly pension of Rs. 1500 to 2.31 lakh women above the age of 18. Starting from June, women from Spiti Valley will also receive this benefit. 

To improve education in rural areas, Rajiv Gandhi day-boarding schools will be constructed in each assembly constituency, with pre-nursery and nursery wings in the first phase. A Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding School will also be established in the Dehra assembly segment, he said.

The Chief Minister said that the present government was going to bring innovative changes in the health sector as well. Model health institutes will be opened in each assembly constituency, where modern health services will be provided to the people. 

He said that the government is also taking steps towards providing employment to the youth. In the last cabinet meeting, approval has been given to fill the posts of about 6000 teachers in the education department.

He said that due to the financial mismanagement of the previous BJP government, the state's economic condition was poor, but the present government is making efforts to bring the state's economic condition back on track. 

Lack of funds will not be allowed to come in the way of development works. While the government has taken loans, it is actively working to reduce dependence on borrowing and increase its resources to improve the state's economy. The government's primary focus is to ensure that the benefits of development and various schemes reach the deserving people of the state, the chief minister said.

 MLA, Hoshiar Singh thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating and announcing developmental schemes for Dehra. He said that for the first time after 15 years, the Chief Minister of the state has visited Haripur, and there was a lot of enthusiasm among the people of the area.

 Congress leader Dr. Rajesh Sharma expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for visiting Dehra assembly constituency. He thanked for providing the Zoological Park of an International level in Dehra assembly segment. He said that the present State Government was developing Kangra district as a tourism capital, which would boost tourism in the entire region.

 Earlier, the Chief Minister was accorded a grand welcome by the people at various places from Sapdi helipad to Haripur. Former MLA Ramesh Dhawala also welcomed the Chief Minister at Khabli. State Secretary Mahila Congress Saroj Sharma presented a check of Rs 51 thousand to Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu towards Mukhyamantri Sukhashraya Kosh.

Agriculture Minister, Prof. Chander Kumar, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Kishori Lal, MLAs Sanjay Rattan, Hoshiar Singh and Malender Rajan, Principal Advisor (IT and Innovations) to Chief Minister, Gokul Butail, OSD to Chief Minister Ritesh Kapret, former MLA Bambar Thakur, Treasurer HPCC, Dr. Rajesh Sharma, KCC Bank Chairman Kuldeep Pathania, Block Congress Committee President, Hariom Sharma were also present on the occasion amongst senior officers of the district.
