Health and Family Welfare Minister  Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil today chaired the Governing Body meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda through video conferencing. The Minister reviewed the institution's achievements and overall performance during the past three financial years, with a focus on strengthening patient care and improving healthcare services.

Addressing the meeting, the Health Minister said the state government was committed to transform the healthcare sector by upgrading medical infrastructure and ensuring that people have access to high-quality treatment closer to home. He said that several significant initiatives have been undertaken over the past three and a half years to modernize healthcare facilities across the state.

 Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil said the government was upgrading medical institutions in the state in line with leading healthcare centres in the country. As part of this effort, Rs. 75 crore has been sanctioned for the establishment of advanced automated laboratories at Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialities, Chamiyana, Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda.

The Minister also announced that infrastructure at Tanda Medical College would be further strengthened to support an increase in postgraduate medical seats, as well as to improve facilities for students enrolled in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) and nursing programmes. He said that the college has recently installed several advanced medical technologies, including High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Hemodiafiltration (HDF) dialysis systems, which would significantly enhance diagnostic and critical care services.

Recognizing the growing number of patients and visitors, Dr. Shandil said efforts would also be made to expand parking facilities at the medical college to improve public convenience. The Health Minister further said that outdated medical equipment in government medical colleges was being replaced with state-of-the-art technology. 

Modern diagnostic equipment, including MRI scanners, CT scanners, digital radiography and digital mammography systems, was being installed across healthcare institutions to improve the quality and efficiency of medical services. He said that the government was undertaking large-scale recruitment of doctors, professors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to strengthen the public health system and ensure better healthcare delivery throughout the state.

He said that the government was committed to strengthen the healthcare sector and every effort was being made to build a stronger, more modern and patient-centred healthcare system through sustained investment in infrastructure, technology and human resources. Special Secretary (Health) Dr. Ashwani Sharma was present in the meeting where as Chairman of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation R.S. Bali, Principal of Tanda Medical College, Dr. Milap along with other senior officials virtually Joined the meeting from Tanda.
