The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday campaigned in favor of AAP's candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku in Jalandhar by-poll by holding roadshows in various constituencies of Jalandhar Lok Sabha.

Both the leaders held roadshow from Lohia Khas in Shahkot constituency to Adampur via Goraya in Phillaur constituency and appealed to the people to make AAP candidate win.

Punjab reached new heights of development in the last one year - Arvind Kejriwal

Addressing the people during the road show, Kejriwal said that Punjab has touched new heights of development during the last one year under the AAP government. He said that as compared to what the previous SAD-BJP and Congress governments did in 75 years, the Mann government has done more work in just one year.

He said that within just one year, the Mann government had given government jobs to more than 29,000 youths of Punjab. Apart from this, thousands of temporary employees working in various departments were regularised. The previous government only misled the youth on the issue of employment.

Kejriwal said that in order to provide employment to the youth, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann toured the country and abroad and met many big industrialists and appealed to them to set up industries in Punjab.

Now new industries are setting up in Punjab. According to estimates, more than 2.5 lakh jobs will be created in the next one year.On the issue of corruption, Kejriwal targeted the opposition parties and said that those in power in the previous governments looted the government treasury and took money home.

But the Mann government is making the electricity bills of the people free with that money. Mohalla clinics are being set up for better treatment of common people and 'Schools of Eminence' are being built for better education of children.

Appealing to the people of Jalandhar to make AAP candidate Sushil Rinku win, Kejriwal said that we have come to you asking for only one year. You gave 60 years to Congress. Just give us eleven months.  If you don't like our work then don't vote for us in 2024 Loksabha elections.

Slamming Congress Kejriwal said that the arrogance of Congress leaders has increased so much that in this election no big Congress leader from Delhi even came to ask for your votes. While both the big leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party and both the Chief Ministers have come to seek votes from you. Give us one chance. We will deliver up to your expectations.

If AAP candidate wins this election, then Jalandhar's name will also be written in history along with Aam Aadmi Party's - Bhagwant Mann

Addressing the people during the road show, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that on May 10, press the jharoo button and make Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sushil Rinku win. After that your responsibility ends, our responsibility will start. Together with you, we will make Punjab Rangla Punjab again and make the people of Punjab happy and prosperous.

Making an emotional appeal to the people of Jalandhar, the Chief Minister said that we have 92 MLAs in Punjab. There are 62 MLAs in Delhi and two in Goa. And we have 10 MPs in the Rajya Sabha. But our party does not have a single representative in the Lok Sabha.

You have a chance to create history by electing AAP candidate. If the AAP candidate wins this election from Jalandhar, then along with the Aam Aadmi Party, Jalandhar's name will also be written in history.

Reiterating his commitment against corruption, the Chief Minister said that our government has completely curbed corruption in Punjab. During the last one year, we have taken action against hundreds of corrupt officers, employees and leaders and caught them and sent them to jail.

He said that those who looted the hard earned money of the people of Punjab will not be spared. After catching them, we will recover all the money and put that money back in the government exchequer.
