Congress MLA from the Phillaur assembly constituency, Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary on Tuesday accused the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government of presiding over corruption and extortion regime in the state ever since it came into power. He said the names of AAP leaders are cropping up every other day in various corruption cases, leading to loss of public confidence in the government.

Addressing various public meetings in Dosanjh Khurd, Dhanda, Chak Dhothar, Randhawa, Taggar and Lasara villages of Phillaur constituency, he said that every day, the Aam Aadmi Party leaders are embroiled in one or another controversy and a political party whose claim is of being born out of an anti-corruption movement has become the most corrupt party now.

Chaudhary said that just a few days ago, Khanna police arrested seven AAP leaders, including a state joint secretary, for attempting to extort money from two shopkeepers. Before this, he said, police had arrested Surinder Kamboj, the father of AAP MLA from Jalalabad, for extorting money.

Citing more such incidents, Chaudhary said that last year, AAP government's health minister Dr Vijay Singla was sacked and arrested after CM Bhagwant Mann blamed him for demanding commission on tenders. Former Cabinet Minister Fauja Singh Sarari and MLA Amit Rattan Kotfatta were also involved in bribery and extortion cases.

"The list doesn’t end just here. Even the AAP's top leadership, including former Deputy CM Delhi Manish Sisodia, Delhi's former cabinet minister Satyendra Jain and Punjab’s Super CM Raghav Chadha, are also facing serious charges," Chaudhary added.

In Punjab, within one year, he said, the ‘Mann sarkar’ has actually become ‘beimaan sarkar’ and the people of Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency are ready to teach the AAP a historic lesson in the by-poll on May 10.
