NSS units of Government College for Women Udhampur, under the guidance of  the College Principal Prof (Dr) Anjali Mahajan conducted a Plantation drive cum outreach programme in Sankri area of Panchari (Udhampur) as one of the ventures of community engagement under the aegis of G20 & Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM).

It is pertinent to mention here that community engagement is the motto of NSS and these sorts of activities find great relevance to fulfill this purpose of NSS.This particular location is around 35 kilometers away from the College.

 The NSS contingent, along with NSS Program Officers (Prof Sumita Rao and Prof Sanjay Kumar) and staff members (Anju Sharma and Balbir Singh), were well received by the members of temple trust Committee of Sankri.     

Jasvir Singh, DDC Councillor of Panchari-Moungri area also graced the occasion by his presence and interacted with the volunteers.The volunteers along with NSS program officers and DDC of the area planted around 20 saplings of native plants. 

The purpose of the students’ visit and efforts were highly appreciated by DDC. He also conveyed his thanks to Principal Dr Anjali Mahajan for selecting this location for community outreach cum plantation drive.
